Hey, I'm new here, and just recently obtained my CDL not too long ago. A friend of mine and I have decided to team drive and went in halves on a western star and a dry van. I am very health concerned, as I have been most of my life. I am a jogger and will have hand weights in the truck. I do not take partial to fast food, since its not good for you and can really rack up in your pocket book. I wil a fridge, microwave, toaster, and possibly a skillet for meals..
Could anyone give me any advice on good meals to make? Healthy, quick snack and meals, and simple things that will make my life a little easier and clutter free as much as possible. I will have totes for everything, but is there any better suggestions for storage ideas?
The truck has plenty of shelving and floor space, but will also have a yellow lab accompanying us as well, so most things will have to be stored away as much as possible.
Any bit of advice will help, thank you so much, and I just want to say I can't wait to finally sit in the drivers seat this time around! But living area is just as important to me.
Hi there and welcome!
I'm just passing thru so here goes: https://www.thehealthytrucker.net/ http://www.onegirltrucking.com/ - somewhere in there she has an entry on the items that will help you out on the road.
Hope this helps!Cole

Hi DF and welcome!
Our instructor had a pre-trip video that someone recorded that was excellent. They allowed us to get it early in the program so, we had plenty of time to review it. Also, they allowed us to record them while they did their overview with our class. Cole

I'm sorry to hear that Desiree. Have you heard anything from your Dad yet?
-If not, then put out a missing report on him.
-Call his company to find out his last location. Does he use the Qualcomm?
-If he is O/O then find out if whomever, he took the load for has any information.
-How old is he? Is he having problems with memory or taking meds for it? You may be able to put out a "Silver Alert" in the area he was last known to be. Give the police the make, model of the vehicle, license's number and a recent picture of your dad.
-Have you called the Ohio State Trooper's to find out if they have any information?
-Call all the local hospitals in that area?
-Call the Sheriff in that area too since sometime law enforcement don't always know what the other is doing?
-The police has the ability to get his cell phone records. To see if he made any calls after he spoke with you.
-Has he spoken with anyone else in the family since the last time he spoke to you? -

Any special tips for this skill?
Yes. Always focus on your reference no matter if it to your left or right. The other day,I had to focus on a truck because there was no lines.

Have been lurking on this site for awhile now. Thought I'd better introduce myself.
Hey Colleen,
Welcome! Whoo hoo, another "sister in trucking" coming down the line!!!
I have zilch experience in trucking. However, just like you, I didn't go with my first mind into trucking years ago outta respect for my Ma. Now that I am on this path.....she is my bestest friend and want to know everything that I am doing. Funny how that worked out.
Just do it! Cole.

3 weeks into training!!! Whoohooo
Hey Cece,
Grinding gears is my specialty (not on purpose). I am not a full blown trucker yet but, every trucker I've spoken to ( who realize that I'm not a lot lizard ) advise it will get better with time. Therefore don't sweat it.
Glad to know that you have asserted yourself to get a different trainer. If you are messing up on the same things then all I can say is focus, focus, focus on those things to the best of your ability. Time and practice will improve improve you.
You can do this, there is no doubt about it!!! Cole

Welcome Desiree,
Welcome aboard! What part of this beautiful nation are you from? What part of trucking do you want to get into? How long have you been trucking locally? Do you like it? What exactly do you do? What do you want to get into? I'm nosy dog gone it!
Shoot, at least you got 'some type' of experience in trucking. All the more better for you and your family! I'm not a full blown trucker yet but, getting there slowly and surely. Whoo hoo, another "sister in trucking" coming down the line! Cole
