I am a wannabe truck driver. Live in Ontario, Canada, and would like to semi-retire to trucking as I love the country and would like to travel around it while being paid. Yes a silly idea, so for now I'll lurk and comment occasionally.

Here's a look at the load of onions that got rejected.
Why were the rejected, OS? I'd think that a shipper wouldn't ship bad onions... Then again, I'm a wannabe.

Yes, you do look like brothers seperated at birth. Have you thought of a DNA test?
Well, if they're not siblings, they're brothers.
THEY ARE COUSINS!
Don't post when sleepy, even if you hit preview, you can mess up.

Curious question from a bystander.
The 99.5% on-time deliveries. Does that get ruined say..If you got stuck in the big blizzard? Or only affected if it's drivers fault for missing a appointment?
You would have to make 199 out of 200 deliveries and pickups on time. Pretty much you'd have to never miss an appointment for a year.

Without knowing which ads you're looking at it's hard to say.
You'll see many that give figures like "average driver pay $XX,XXX a year". Those are averaging the fleet. Some rookies do make or break the average salary the first year, you might not. Then again, you might do better, it depends on you. This is a truthful, if slightly deceptive ad, as the figure quoted is not guaranteed. Heck, how many people quit a company before finishing a year? The ones that post all those negative reviews. If you're driven to succeed, a go-getter, and willing to work hard your first year, you'll do well.

Those long deadheads seem insane, but I'm sure there is some sort of profit (or at least break even) going on.
E.G. company has committed to move freight for a customer with a lot of it, and you're the closest available with available meaning there are no other loads between you and it. Gets you out of the dead zone with a surefire load.d

1 year license req, org USA license, os lic, now back to usa
For a reciprocal license you need to transfer it in the proper time frame. As I said, I could be way off base, but it's worth a shot.
Good luck

Tom, many states have reciprocal arrangements with other states, provinces, and countries. For example when I moved from California to Ontario and went to get a driver's license I was able to transfer my license from California. That is, I did not need to take a written or driving test and my record was set up to reflect most (not all) of the years I had held the California license - it was five years IIRC.
So I arrived in Ontario, and had a new license with at least five years of driving experience on it.
If I had traveled the other way, I'd have had a similar result in California as the state and the province recognize each others licenses. Now this probably doesn't answer what you asked, but you may be credited with more than zero years of experience.

Southwest Traders (Temecula,CA)
Why leave Illinois for California? I don't mean to start a thread about the differences between the states, but what is it that tempts you to move: romance, weather, returning to where you grew up?
There are any number of companies you could work for and have your home base be California. I'd say that the move is more important than this particular company.

The food court smells, odd.
There are a few trucks in the main building, but the place to see is the truck museum. The museum is worth the time to see. You can see it all in less than 1/2 hour. It's open from 9-5 tomorrow, so it might not be doable for you this visit.

New Blood Pressure Guidelines Mean Yours Might Be Too High Now
In the new guidelines, Stage 1 is defined as: systolic between 130-139 or diastolic between 80-89.
Medication is recommended only, "if a patient has already had a cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke, or is at high risk of heart attack or stroke based on age, the presence of diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease or calculation of atherosclerotic risk (using the same risk calculator used in evaluating high cholesterol)."
I'd give it 50/50 if the FMCSA were to change their rules based on this change by the ACA/AHA. That is, if your BP does not cross the threshold for management, then you need not have it managed even if it's in elevated (systolic between 120-129 and diastolic less than 80), or Stage 1 above. I'm not saying it's nothing, just saying that it most likely won't change things in the near term.

Tragedy on Highway 400 in Ontario
Around 11:300 on Halloween, 2017, there was a huge pile up on the 400. At least 14 vehicles were involved, including a fuel transport. The transport caught fire and exploded. Firefighters were left to contain it as it was too large to attempt to put out.
Global News coverage of the crash
This will most likely end up with a call to regulate transport even more in the province, as there have been calls to do so after past tragedies. Remember the requirement that commercial vehicles be governed to 105km/h in Ontario?

Ever hear of contacting a spouse about employment?
Dan; gathering information, listening to other opinions, then acting even when emotional about something is a good behavior to cultivate. So very many people come to TT with an emotional issue, hear something that doesn't conform to their view, then fight or storm off, or both.
I applaud your actions, sir.

So Big T. wants to team, and he appears to be both forthright and a supportive collaborator. Hopefully, he'll show us how to make a few more dollars as a team than a solo driver without going crazy. From the sounds of it, both drivers have similar goals and attitudes. I want to ride along to see how it shakes out; so I look forward to reading T's diary.

There will be blood....
I'm looking more and more towards joining the ranks, and have looked at my BP with a home meter. It ranges from 11X/7X to 15x/9x. Yeah, great to why is his head still on. I know that it's in the acceptable range most of the time, should I be worried?
Yeah, I'm cutting back on salt.
Q.2/ will having a cancer disqualify me? I have a slow growing tumor that's being watched.
