This is what Schneider told me for intermodal regional out of Chicago.
Orientation is 3 weeks long, and will earn $80 a day. You will receive 2 meals while in the class room, but when out with a training engineer you would be responsible for your meals. Your first paycheck will be held back 1 week. You are paid every Friday except the first check.
Pay: .37 Rate per mile *Pay is subject to the verification of your tractor-trailer driving experience. Mileage pay (if mileage pay is applicable to your particular pay package) applies to all loaded and empty carrier-directed miles based on Household Movers Guide or PC*MILER, as determined by Schneider's particular Line of Business (LOB). Pay is also subject to your available DOT hours of service, load and work availability, per diem participation, other criteria established by the LOB, account type, economic fluctuations, business circumstances, applicable law, and other relevant considerations.
They also said .5 cents increase within 30 days depending on on time delivers 1800-2200 miles per week.

I was told by a recruiter from schneider that I would be an over the road driver for the first 3 months and that I should expect $800-$1000 a week driving out of Chicago with no experience. What do you guys think?

Yeah I have heard a lot of people say the newer trucks have lots of issues.
I was hired by Schneider Bulk out of a private school. Schneider used to have a CDL school, but not anymore.
Like I said... my experience with Schneider has been great.
How is it going for you at Schneider? I will be graduated from CDL school in August 12 and been thinking of applying at Schneider here in Chicago.

Should I Apply or Stick with the School.....
I am attending a school in Chicago, I just got my permit 2 weeks ago. The problem is that my school is booked till July 28 which is when I will get on the truck and start to learn how to drive. So my projected date to get my CDL is in August 12.
I am wondering if I should just apply to a company that offers CDL training to non CDL students and go that route or just wait till my dates to drive with my school.
I don't really care about the money I've spent on the school, I just want to start driving already for a company ASAP.
What are our thoughts?
P.S. I wouldn't have passed my permit exams without this site.

DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?
If a CDL school has you tested as a student, and you come up dirty...it WILL be noted somewhere that all other trucking companies can see...And I think it would be on a DAC report, if nowhere else....When in doubt.....lay low and clean out..Drugs can permanently ruin your hopes of ever driving truck...
Thanks
Ill just test myself before going to obtain my medical card... I had a feint 2 line on a home test a week ago according to the instructions its negative. Hopefully I pass the DOT This coming Monday.
