Headed to Swift Driving Academy in Kansas City, MO

Anyone planning on going to school should start on the High Road Training Program here on this site before attending. Those who have completed it report they are miles ahead of the other students when they get to school and let's them concentrate on driving more.

Keep us posted and get ready for a real challenge.

I agree I have gone thru it twice now once a year ago and just recently completed it again and now continue to go thru practice questions, almost feel I have the material memorized I should be good to go for my start toward the end of june

Getting seriously frustrated

Not calling back, then when she did..thinking I was in school last week. It's okay for now..finally scheduled June 1st.

I hear you on this, I called CR England and left a message, got no call back from them at all, so that is why I am going with swift, besides the fact that they called me back within 2 hours after I filled out their online application even though their website said it may be up to 48 hrs before they contacted me.

Swift..I've been a model employee all my life. I don't do drugs and have zero charges. I just want to drive. If it's just a recruiter thing I can understand..if not I'm going to Prime.

Are they turning you away?

Just couldn't figure this one out

Not sure what he did but you are legally allowed up to 20,000 on you steer axel in most states. The reason the 12,000 lbs is used is because it's the weight that is best for the tractor as far as wear and tare on the parts. Im not sure about this but I'm thinking that at 12,000 lbs it's probably the best weight range to have the best control of the truck.

20,000 is the max allowed but you also have to take into account the weight rating of the tires if they are rated at 6000 then your total weight allowed is only 12,000

Now, a gallon of diesel weighs about seven pounds

double-quotes-end.png

Always calculate it at 8 pounds per gallon. It's normally between 7.25 - 7.5 pounds per gallon so round up to be safe.

Nice Brett I was thinking the same thing "using 8 lbs per gallon" as per the high road training program material.

Teacher to Trucker????? I need some thoughts and advice I am sick of my job and am 27

double-quotes-start.png

So you want to get away from whiney imbeciles? Not gonna happen in trucking. Never heard a group of people complain and whine as much as truck drivers do.

double-quotes-end.png

You've obviously never worked in a call center, Pat.

I second that Bud... I WILL NEVER EVER EVER WORK IN A CALL CENTER AGAIN!
