Any truck drivers from Kansas or at least midwest???

I'm in Mid Michigan, but was born in Texas. I can't wait to go back home to Corpus Christi. I know it's changed so much since I left. That being said Daniel B.'s photos have me even more anxious to explore our back yard.

TMC or Maverick?

double-quotes-start.png

Are there any members on here that drive for TMC or Maverick? If so please tell me all u can about the company you work for from an insiders perspective. I am beyond interested in both companies. Both also recruit out of the school i'll be doing in September. Thank you.

i was just approved for tmc and will be going with them now as i was afraid i wouldnt get approved by them because of where i live. check out this website. the guy has what he makes there however he is above the starting rate and you would be elligable for the rate above the starting rate after one month based on your performance. http://www.ak49bwl.com/extras/tmc.php?do=index now i dont know much about maverick because i am way out of their hiring area and just never looked them up. what kind of specific questions do you have. i may be able to help as i have been researching companies since march

I'm interested on going to TMC also! But I'm concerned about there orientation. I read on Old Schools orientation diary that he had to climb up the side of the trailer. Im only 5`6, I would need a running start to climb the side. Haha!

What with all the tornados who wouldnt want to live in the Midwest? Lol At the end of the day it doesnt matter where ya live when your a trucker you live wherever your truck stops for the most part! And Guy you live in the SOUTH! Just love it already:-) And Daniel you should be more concerned with the smog and pollution in CA than the "homos". I really dont think homophobia has a place on the board.

Yeah it doesn't matter if you're straight or a member of the LGBT community everyone needs to be treated with respect no matter their personal views.

Should I be concerned?

My first was 09/20/2010 i was charged with Misdemeanor (operating - license suspended, revoked, denied.) The second was 03/01/2011 same charge.

Michigan had a responsibility fee system where you would pay 500 one year and two payments of 200 and then repeat the next year. Along with a reinstatement fee of 125. Im not sure if thats exactly how it was , but it was pretty close. They no longer do it this way I know it recently changed. Needless to say my priorities weren't great. Looking at the dates they're only 5 months apart.

I have it pulled already. Michigan doesn't have a DMV we only use the Secretary of State, and it was $9. I'm sure each company has their own way of dealing with it, I guess I'm wondering if any drivers had the same issue and how they handled it.

I should also add that when I was 16 I ran a stop sign. That was also 8 years ago, and I currently have no points against my driving record what so ever.

Should I be concerned?

I'm somewhat young (24) and I'm concerned about some of my past driving citations. It's easy for me to say it's nothing major but would companies see it that way? When I was 18 I left my car unattended and never paid the ticket I recieved. That rolled into a suspended license. I was pulled over and was charged with driving on a suspended license. Almost a year to the day I was pulled over for the same suspension. Needless to say I learned my lesson and had no others citations until recently when on March 12, 2014 I totalled my car on the way to work. I was ticketed for not having insurance. I was in a hard place and was seriously struggling financially. I had even gone to Belle tire a week before because I had a feeling my cars tires needed some improvements. I couldn't afford the work needed but kept the reciept and still have it. I have no legit reason to justify not having insurance, but will companies take into consideration that my tires were in horrible condition and I was making moves to repair them?

Live in n.carolina. what ?????? do i need to ask the unempolyment reps ??

Ty it just a hard & thoughtful process on which im not trying rush into till i see both sides are offering

idk but i dont want to icebox this career anymore than it should be...........

I totally agree, I'm bored out of my mind waiting around. I'm praying that they'll be enough applicants so that they'll start another class sooner. If I'm not mistaken if you go to school with Prime theyll advance you $200 during the time you're taking classes (you pay them in $25 increments every pay check). Then $450 the first two weeks of training with a driver. At three weeks you receive $500 until you become a solo driver. All together you get your whole training for free as long as fulfill your year long contract. Which shouldn't be hard, i haven't heard anything negative about Prime. TMC on the order hand requires you have a CDL A with at least 3 months of over the road training or a recent graduation date from an accredited school. Recently they upgraded their training pay from $400 to $500 for the entire length of their training. Every route has it's perks and negatives for sure.

I'm doing the WIA route because I'm actively collecting unemployment benefits. I'm not sure if that's the only eligibility factor, but its what qualities me. I'm personally not comfortable with going straight to a company that offers on site training because I'm nervous about getting sent home early. But there are definitely a lot of hoops to jump via a WIA grant. I had to go two orientations once on the 2nd of July, then the 10th of July. I won't meet with my case worker until the 29th. Then I'll have to wait until the 19th of August to start school. I want to join TMC and they wont hire without prior accolades. If that falls through I'll be able to go to any other company like PRIME and will be required to just do orientation then over the road training.
