Company Drivers for Roehl, USX, Werner, Schneider: your input needed

I was in your shoes 1 year ago, I looked into Knight, Schneider, Swift, etc. I chose Werner because I was able to get onto a dedicated account with weekly home time, and 95% drop and hook. I have enjoyed my experience, and have made decent money. Any company you chose will have multiple opportunities, it's what you do with them that will make, or break your experience. I soon found out that being home weekly didn't pay the bills, so I now stay out 10-14 days, then go home for 2 days I will be looking for something different soon, as I have learned that your not going to make your full earning potential with the mega carriers. But it's critical to spend a full year at your 1st driving job to show future employers your commitment to the job.

I just asked my dm how many miles I have

Wonder if that's team miles, it's a big number for a solo driver, I am just coming up on my 1 year, and I have around 125k?????

Finally solo

Parking was a huge thing for me in the first few weeks, not knowing where or if I could get somewhere. Best thing I did was spent $5.00 on the "pocket truck stop guide" awesome tool for planning your overnight stays. Also I started running about 3:00am so I would get into a truck stop early......lots of open parking spots!

Werner reviews?

I drive for Werner and wouldn't touch dollar General......not only is it a lot of work, but looking at some of the locations u have to get into....NO thanks! Overall as for Werner, I started with them in November, they have been good for me, steady miles, great 3M dedicated account I'm on, home every weekend if I want, but then smaller paycheck with less miles. I run out for 2-3 weeks at a time now and do 95% drop & hook.

Watching Ice Road Truckers..

double-quotes-start.png

Saw the season premiere, but have been on the road since.....no mention of the Polar bear in that episode........is he off this season?

double-quotes-end.png

This is the first episode I have seen in over a year.. but I haven't seen him yet.

Thinking he's gone cause they don't show him with all the others in the opening sequence

Phone BLOWING UP!!!!!

Can't stress the point enough to thoroughly research any company your considering, if u have a truck stop near by, or rest area, go talk to the driver's of the company your interested in, most will tell u like it is for them. Unless they are trying to get a recruiter fee by telling u to use their name when contacting the company.

Has anyone ever picked up the wrong load ?

I haven't hooked to a wrong trailer, but have been given a trailer number several times that were supposed to be empty, only to find they still contained freight.....learned to always open the doors and double check, loaded or empty to verify content. Have also been assigned a load going to say Chicago from my dispatch and when I get to the shipper, they say no, this goes to Memphis!

I hate waiting....

I will say that I really do enjoy the 3M dedicated account though, average 3000 miles per week
