The best company to work for new drivers

YES, thank you VERY much! Obviously I thought you meant something else by hint hint. I can do all that you suggest! I don't like to push legalities or my physical ability (alertness/hours) too much, so was concerned that would limit me professionally. But if being a good and successful driver means being respectful, helpful, responsible, and honest - that's great to hear. Really appreciate your response.

I start school today 😊

Hey Spirit, thanks for the updates! Sounds like you are having an awesome time in school. I start in October, in Denver. I'm 47, too! 47 is the new 17. Please keep the posts coming. I want to hear how backing goes!

I'm trying to get a feeling for how things work in the real world out there. I'm coming into trucking with no family experience etc. with it - total blank slate. So, does working hard and being a great driver mean taking Rolling Thunder's "hint hint"? Just wondering what's normal/expected out there ... no judgment intended. I am a by-the-rules person, but I understand there are unwritten rules too.

Matt, will do, if I go with Stevens. I will definitely post on here about school.

Brett, thanks for the advice, I will keep calling Knight. To be honest, getting in with Stevens seemed too easy ... makes me wonder if they are having high turnover for some reason.

Eckoh, indeed I am! I have a couple weeks to study before school and feel like I'll be ready for the written by the time I get there.

HetzelMr, thank you!! I'm glad to be here!

Be safe guys!

Wow, thanks for the big welcome! (I was off line for a couple days, sorry to take so long answering!) Yes, I'm totally excited! I've been staying with a friend and I can see I-25 from her house ... I watch the trucks go by and imagine driving one of them! It's good to hear Stevens has a good rep. Knight was my first choice but they haven't returned my calls ... so I'm going to go with the idea that I'm meant to be with Stevens.

Hey, I posted this in the Ladies section, but want to say hi to the guys too!

I love this site and really appreciate all the info and support here! My name is Trish and I'm studying for my CDL now (thanks Brett for The High Road!) ... just signed up with Stevens Transport for school in Denver in October. Still not 100% sure about this decision but the more I learn about this career and talk to people, the more excited I get. I'm 47, newly "single" again and loving it ... looking forward to getting paid to see this beautiful country. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the community on this site!
