I was a Truckload driver for Averitt for a while and it is nice to route yourself to a terminal for fuel, rest, sleep etc. I had no problem finding a parking spot in each one, but G-Town made a good point, there are several times during the week where I was not near a service center (as they call it) so you parked where you could. I still drive for Averitt but do intermodel now. They are a good company so do check them out more...

I have the KDlinks and it works very well, good picture quality. I use it for local driving into the Ssvannah ports just for the fact that it gets crazy close driving in there...

How many of you have hazmat endorsement?
Averitt is starting to require it, I have gotten some loads just because I did have it. As Steve L. stated hazmat is not only the big tanks of methal ethal bad stuff but some common stuff.. It is not hard to get.

No Recent Experience, Want to get back into trucking. Averrit Express
I looked at the Averrit site and they look like a great company to start out with. Does anyone have any info into this company?
Averrit, wants you to have a least 30 days of recent driving experience or attended one of their "approved schools". They really need to either upgrade their school list. (called them last week just to see, so the info is current)
My school wasn't 'isted either when I first started to get my CDL, I called Averitt, got a rep to the school and got it on the list..

You will need a TWIC to get into the ports, I run in Savannah all day long, without it you do not enter. I also started out truckload and as I said before Frito's info is spot on. I like being local more, also make i little more $$ i think. HM and TWIC are two different things you will need to go through the process again. it also cost more.

I'm in a Freightliner (brand new one) also drove one on the truckload side so can't answer the Volvo question, I'm home every night and weekends now when I was truckload I was home on weekends. What i'm doing now is port runs I do not drop and hook at all and I do not touch any freight, all I do is unlatch my box and a crane removes it. As a truckload driver I did some drop and hook and some live loads, only 2 times did I ever touch freight and it was for a petco account then all I did was palletjack it to the back of the truck.
