Werner orientation

Let me be clear , I have no serious complaints about Werner as a company . Staff is friendly and program is solid. I chose werner for several reasons, but mostly because I wanted 275 hours with a trainer . If a driver using paper log chooses to fudge its on him . Werner uses e logs so that they know the instant a driver goes into violation and they jump on it. That's a good thing for mgmt and driver. As a student I am required to run paper log parallel to elog and I must say it is not easy to learn Remember a company can have all the correct policies in place, but it is difficult to manage drivers after the fact

Werner orientation

In my case the orientation was over in a flash . Two days of classroom learning basics of trip planning , Qualcomm, benefits and other stuff. Then couple days doing online tests, simulators, and then a driving skills test . The skills test is not pass or fail, just an evaluation. I was all done on day five and thinking i would be sitting around awhile waiting for a trainer. By Friday evening I was in a truck and heading out for Salt Lake City . First few days u drive only 5 hours. After that you are full clock , but not allowed to dive from midnite to 6 am. You will be with the trainer for bout 270 driving hours . Biggest issue I have is the lack of real training. My 90 backing skills suck and my trainer is leaving it up to me to figure out. My trainer admits his main reason for teaching is the $$ He is getting paid for the miles I drive. He is not getting paid to teach me anything I knew it would be difficult, but thought I would learn more techniques

Trucker Paralyzed By Accident While Unhitching Trailer

I am currently in Werner training as solo. Only real issue I see is the lack of experienced trainers. Many trainers have less than 6 months experience. I was lucky to get one with 10 years exp . How can someone teach you about winter driving who has never driven Wyoming in bad weather ?

Werner orientation

Can't say enough about this place. Staff is great . Safety is number one priority . Couple days in classroom and paperwork . Then couple more on simulators, yard skills and testing. All testing is basically just to identify your weak points for trainer to work on with you. Most testing is not pass or fail. Unless you can not drive, you will go forward. But you must pass physical. Now that all that is behind me, I wait for assignment to trainer , then on road for 275 hours of my drive time . Complete that you must pass test then go solo P/s... Drug test did not pull hair

Getting started with Truck Driver Institute’s Dallas campus

This school sounds similar to what I am just finishing . 3 week course cost me $4100 Most companies will reimburse tuition at about $150 per month Werner has Otr and some regional jobs that get u home weekly. Home daily jobs are mostly unloading/ delivery. Think coca cola, beer, restraunt supply. One thing I wish I had thought more about is how many students in your class and how many trucks they are using. ? You want as much time in the truck as you can get . I figure I paid them $20 per hour and sat on my but watching 75% of the time
