Prime recruiting conversation

Oh, forgot to add that you get 1 day home for every week out. Nothing mentioned that it was tied to miles.

.

. I am in training now and just completed 10,000 miles...so my pay went from 600 to 700. My trainer is great and things are going good. I am in the tanker division and when I complete the training (40,000 or 10 weeks which ever comes first) l will be paid .45 CPM plus fuel bonus. You earn 1 day off for every 7 you drive. My fleet manager is nice to speak to and said if I need home time just let him know. I am very pleased with Prime and life is good....we are driving to Iowa, I take over driving at 0100.

Tanker

Driving for Prime (enjoy every day) in the Tanker Division and worked real hard last night. Drove from Newark, NJ and headed Northwest towards Chicago. The tanker was not full and that forward surge was rough last night, did a lot of climbing and just could not get in a smooth transition of driving. Every time i down shifted and felt like some one hit the back of the truck with a sleg hammer. Its nice driving empty...its all good.

OTR

Well it's been 4 weeks now and I am enjoying everyday with Prime, after orientation (4 days) my trainer picked me up and the driving began. Drove from PA to NJ and spent a day in a half moving tankers from one location to another (tight real tight) good training on backing them in tight to each other. On the 3rd day we picked up a load and headed North into Canada (Yes I am in the Tanker Division) and I drove all the way 444 miles. Spent the night and off load the next morning, drove back to NJ and picked up another load for NY. My Fleet Manager gave us a load to CA shortly after the NY run and what a drive that was! Spent 5 days in CA 34 reset and couple of days of tank washing and picking up load to head back to the east coast. I enjoyed every mile and progressed everyday with a final run of 604 with 2 minutes to spare. I thought the driving was the best part and of course the pay, wow they are paying me for something I truly enjoy.

Which company to drive for?

I have been calling and looking at the trucking companies and trying to find the best one for me, It seems like an individual thing depending on what you are looking for. The recruiters seem to paint the same picture, and everything is based on experience (how long have you been driving). I am in school and look forward to driving and making a living. Which company stands alone and is your choice?
