Do most trucks have CD players? Satellite radio? Is listening to music while driving a good/bad idea?do most trucks have wifi or to I need hot spot? What luxuries? Like fridge/cooler,TV/DVD player?,microwave? How hard is it to use cpap machine in truck for those with aspnea? Etc

I know I am very new to this but what if a way you can separate drivers by company? Say someone like me is leaning toward one company or getting ready to go to training there I think it would be very helpful to hear from drivers who work for that company and get heads up or input on anything dealing with thast company itself. I love the all-star idea and the idea of allstar ranks. Maybe any drivers with say 10-15+ years experience make them an all-star. Let's face it if you been one the road that long there should be very situations you have not been in and can advice /guide all us others.I would like to think if I'm on the road that long I would still learn from anyone but will try to guide anyone asking fgpor help/afvice

Thanks Ralph breast idea I need to look at a map and decide how far willing to go. Don't wanna have dead time getting to loads if I'm in a dead zone like several hundred miles from pick up if that masked send or it sometimes common? If so are those mile paid or only paid with loads?

Thank you I'm already looking up contact info and started a note book with sections for each company I like .pros cons, questions ,answers, advice,commits, details like do I need hazmat or passport?transportation to them, what I will need on road ?, what am I allowed to have/put in truck etc.

Sounds like you're definitely approaching this with the right attitude. It's a tough business to break into. Not because the schooling is expensive or the training is long or what have you. It's tough because it's such a radical change of lifestyle and there are so many hoops to jump through all the time. You'll feel pretty overwhelmed at times, no question about it. Everyone does.

But keep a great attitude, listen & learn, and try to enjoy yourself as much as possible. Never be shy about asking us anything here in the forum. This will be the easiest way you can learn anything. The lessons get harder once you get out there.

Thank you I do have questions but trying to read everything here to see if I get my answers then I'll ask for input unless just wanting input from those who have already been there doing that. I have old friends back in Va. Who are team drivers and they when I can get ahold of them are great volumes of advice .I also have friend here who drives a dedicated route for a local food company but all I hear are problems but he has been driving less then 18 months so I listen but try to take away the solutions or what I feel ate solutions to prep myself for the lifestyle.

Thanks rick and Brett I read the article here about cc and found it reassuring that that may be my best plan until ready to go on the road also read about prehire letters now going to apply to my top 6 companies and cross my fingers.but about how long does it take to get one back? I am thinking it is like applying to colleges sent out a ton and wait for the few returns then set down with family and gonover asll pros and cons of each then decide. I realize this is not just about me so I am keeping my family involved and even have them on here reading everything to help prep them for this life as well. So far we are getting a good idea about it and findingbanswers to questions easily or one of us read about it before the others andvdfirects us to the answer so again thank you all for all input

Thank you Brett and everyone else on here. I don't take this lifestyle change lightly but keep reminding myself of the end game and goal I'm after. The same as any other man to take care off his family and provide for them.I realize this is not a rich man's job but it is a stable one and as long as I remember I don't know it all , and learn from everyone all I can I should be sable to be a very safe reliable driver.I always have been willing to learn from anybody with something to teach so I am willing and wanting any and asll tips and Adige from everyone. Thank you that is what I was feeling from reading a lot on here but wanted feed back from those who know.if l start the school in march I'd be done end of April so this actually puts me on tract. Any other need to or sh9uld know suggestions?
