Melton Truck Lines

double-quotes-start.png

Does anyone here have any experience with this company? I heard mostly great things about them but some things I can't get a definite answer to.

Do they haul hazmat? What types of sleepers do they have? Are flatbeds they flatbed only? Rider and pet policy? Are their delivery schedules really too tight?

I have a nephew that drives for Melton. When I talked to him recently, he had nothing but good things to say about them.

To the best of my knowledge they do not haul hazmat. They have KW T660/T680 tractors with mid-roof sleepers (no upper bunk). They have 53' flatbed trailers (no step-decks). They do have rider policy (my niece rode with him for about a month last year), no idea about pet policy. Delivery schedules do not from listening to him talk seem to be really tight (reminds me of the same thing when I was with Prime on the flatbed side). So if that is the case (Prime that is), most of the scheduled stops are (at least 95%) during the day during the week.

The company pays for all your equipment except the bungies (and they are really dirt cheap if you get through a terminal).

I will try reaching out to him this week to see if I can get some answers for you about the things I am not sure of for you (since I have nothing but time on my hands for the near future).

Ernie

Thanks Ernie, I really appreciate it!

Need help choosing the right company after school

1 2nd that.. I start my class Monday, and I wanna run all over.. I too have been talking to a lot of companies. As of right now, Melton trucking is topping my list of national companies. The reason why is because of tuition reimbursement, and the fact that they give you a truck that you take home for your off time. But if I have my way, I wanna roll!!!! Plus they re up their tucks every 2 to 3 years so you always have a good reliable ride... I'm also drawn to the local companies because you don't have to deal with big corp B.S.? The owners are right there and the small companies have a good hometown feel? So ya, the choices are many and its very tough to pick one!

Indeed many companies to choose from. I'm looking at Crete at the moment.

And Jeremy I heard the money is great at big companies.

Need help choosing the right company after school

Been in school for a month now & won't be finished until four months from now but I've been shopping these vast amount of companies. Got prehires from PTL, Roehl, US Xpress & Schneider. Will be talking to Mclane this weekend.

I know I want to run all 48 states including Canada (hell even Mexico if I can), pet/passenger policy is preferred, not really too pressed for home time either because I just want to run until I can't anymore with decent pay and benefits.

I've been doing my homework on different companies but it also wouldn't hurt to ask the established vets for a helping hand on the matter.

Trouble finding a trucking school that will take me because of misdemeanor charges can anyone help?

Coming from where I'm from & being who I am, I naturally inquired about this too.

The thing is in your case the trucking school has to find someone who will employ you before they enroll you which isn't going to be an easy task.

My best advice is do your research & find the best/most prestiged training institutions you can which will increase the chance of a company hiring you.

My 1st bear encounter

I have a lot of respect for law enforcement officers. I always treat them with respect. Even though sometimes they aren't very polite.

Sad that respect can't always be a two-way street

Topic: Your initial response was gold; might of been the extra difference.
