Blue tooth

double-quotes-start.png

Ok, I'm going to orientation soon.....r we allowed to use a blue tooth for personal calls while driving or only calls from my company.

I can't speak for other companies but with Knight, you as a student are restricted from phone calls while out with a trainer. Once you've finished training, pass your road test and are in your own truck running solo, then you can use your headset for whatever calls you want. Don't get caught using a phone without a headset though or you'll be driving the shoeleather express and looking for another job.

thx, that's what I thought

Failed my CDL skills test today

This is my first time commenting here but I have been taking advantage of all the generous advice and experience offered here since long before I started school on Dec. 1st. I have nothing negative to say about my school or instructors and I'm not here to whine or look for pity. Just if there is anyone with any encouraging words to get my confidence level back up, I would be grateful. I passed my pre-trip fine, moved to yard test and was feeling somewhat nervous but ok. My first maneuver was a simple straight line back. Understood the rules as they were clearly explained to me and proceeded to back successfully through the box. Set my brakes, blew the horn and was not where I thought I was. Thought I passed my front bumper out the back of the box but was about six feet short. The examiner couldn't believe it, was very sympathetic too. I can't explain how I could do that - definitely wasn't due to over confidence. That was 10 points right there, leaving me only 2 more points for the next two tests. Very nervous now and feeling like a moron, I did a right offset ok, then on to right side parallel - was close but blew my two points going out the back. These were all moves that I was moderately proficient at. I retake the test next Wed., New Years Eve. I don't know what to think about this.

was the hardest part 4 me. I just had to memorize the moves for each one and eventually got....but it is nerve racking!

Hey all!

I'm so very excited because I PASSED my CDL permit test and am the proud holder of a Class A permit :)

Just posting to say thank you, thank you, thank you, for all the feedback and answers to my posts/threads that helped me prepare for the test. Between the HRTP and this forum, I felt like a rockstar on that computer :) I went to a job fair today and an information meeting at the school that I will be STARTING ON MONDAY! So very happy :)

Anyways, from the bottom of my sunshiney heart, thanks :)

Looking for help with 90* ally dock manuver

hi to every one, my name is Daniel I'm a student that went 3 weeks at daly's truck driving school, and failed all the maneuvers. now the straight line and the off set are not too hard just had a bad day with them, so i can see my faults. how ever the ally dock is the one i never could understand.

with 4 instructors and having one each day, i get told some thing different a lot. so i haven't been able to grasp it. the one i currently tried to follow for a week was to

turn steering wheel one turn right, till you see second landing gear or dolly, stop

then turn wheel 3 turns left or all way left, till you move back past the middle of landing gear or cross part just a little/stop

then turn wheel all way right till you see the small gap just past the second landing gear or dolly and stop.

and i think from there its walking the trailer but i have been getting lost about that point all the time. i am not good with remembering how to turn to get trailer to go a way i need it too, or walk it.

if any one could help me understand what i need to do or a whole diff method for it it would be great, i have been given 2 more weeks at my school to get it right.

parallel is also one i have not much fun with. i keep forgetting the stopping points to look for, any one know a method for this maneuver too?

heres how i was taught...alley dock.....turn wheel all the way left...start moving...when u see the middle on ur landing gear....turn all the right....trailor comes around and just make small adjustments to follow it in

If I was OTR I would definitely have my guitar with me. When I was Fracking I was taking my guitar with me. Are schedule was 2 weeks on 1 week off. But we were also staying in hotels, but if I was OTR, my guitar would be my best friend.

thx, will definatly bring her once i settle in with my new company
