Getting CDL on my own

I know in Missouri you can go to a career center and get funded by the state to go to a CDL training school. Just a thought.

I've talked to a lot of companies that will hire CDL grads only if they went to an approved CDL training center.

Trans Am Trucking... Whole new life...

Well that's going to be your choice in your situation you guys are going to live on the road you and your wife. If I was in that situation I would go with equipment.

Because they have APU power inverters and a fridge already installed plus they are automatics and come with a cb installed.

I drove my first automatic the other day and wasn't bad at all. If you can find a company that matches this plus a little better pay then go with that one instead. A driver told me fresh out of school he was making anywhere from 700-900 a week now I'm sure that's with Perdiem which is 12 cents of every 30 you make.

Trans Am Trucking... Whole new life...

Every company has its ups and downs but I know trans am to the T. With me living in St. Louis there training is in Olathe KS. Not trying to steer you wrong but be sure you know what company to go with.

With trans am they have 3 days of paper work then 11 days with a coach then a few more days after to finish at that time you would get your own truck and not sure if your taking your wife on this journey at the beginning or not but...

They will let you bring your wife but you would have to cover expenses on her half for the hotel and not only that she would still be there while your still driving (training) for the 11 days.

50 bucks a day while in training then 30CPM after that just don't do the lease option that's 500 bucks out of your check every week and you pay for everything. I've also hear that they will give ou just enough miles to make your truck payment then you sit for a few days.

This is just all research I have found over for weeks and hear say from the net and from drivers at truck stops. I had my greyhound ticket set up to leave to Olathe KS but gut feeling told me not to so I cancelled 5 hours before I had to leave. With me being a new driver I was using them as a last last resort. A company just to get my experience and time under my belt.

But you never know maybe I made a bad choice or a good one I guess I will never know.

Hope I helped a little good luck!!!

Cdl graduate needing advice

Good morning, thanks everyone for the response back. I've look into getting it expunged and can not be done in Missouri until it's 10 years old.

And for the shotgun app I have used a few of them and they all show either disqualified or approved and the ones that say approved I go ahead and call and they tell me disqualified.

Here's the thing a lot of companies will say that the one in 2012 we will take after 3 years old witch in June it will be but with it being my second alcohol related they want it to be 5 years old.

So I guess transam it is I was also told that ptl would take me but I hear they hire a lot of convicted felons which I'm not downgrading anyone but one of there requirements is to team drive with a random for so many miles I'm not to comfortable riding with a con.

I know they are trying to change there life and all like I am but I would rather drive with someone along the same line as I am or no record at all.

Cdl graduate needing advice

Hey how is everyone doing just obtained my Cdl and looking at different companies to work for to start a career. That being said I can't be picky because I only found one that will take me do to a prior suspension in 2012 due to a adminstrative alcohol suspension. Which pretty much means I got charged with a Dwi but never convicted of it. Also a dwi in 2006 when I was a minor I know bad choices but my son was born in 2012 and I grew up and not touched anything since. But the company that has fully hired me before I go to orientation is Transam out of KC which Is not that far from me about 4 hours tops I'm in the Fenton about 30 min from St. Louis city. Just wanting to know if there is any better companies that will look past that. I heard both good and bad about transam with them trying to push you to go O/O with the leasing program which I am not ever going to do. And then on there website it post 100% fully reimbursement on loads/unloads how exactly does that work in deff not going to have the money to pay for it up front and wait for them to pay me back. On that note there is no Detention pay and they only start out at 30 cents per mile. Is anyone working for them now and how do you feel about transam. I'm not to big on the whole 2 weeks out and 2 days at home either. But like I said I can't be picky due to driving record if anyone has any helpful info on more of this company or can point me to another company that would be awesome thanks guys a lot....
