First two days done, all class room so far. Class is 6 total, with three trucks, we are all looking forward to tons of yard work tomorrow as we are getting behind the wheel and practicing shifting. The instructor is great, thorough but laid back attitude. That's all for now, have to hit the books and complete my homework (not much and it's not due until Friday but a little each night gets it done, easily).

I'm in the Millis Training Institute right now (that's Millis Transfer's training). The school is is in Ridgeway, Va although they have other locations in Ga, OH, WI and TX. It's been great, small class size, 6 total in mine and they don't go over 8. Cost is very reasonable and employment is guaranteed upon completion and the graduation rate is very. My instructor said over the last year he only cut 2 students who just absolutely couldn't cut it. Tons of yard and drive time, out of a 18 day training (before the OTR trainer time which is 15,000 miles), only 5 are classroom days, the rest are practical hands on training. At the Ridgeway facility there's 3 tractors, so two students per truck! You'll also find the pay is one of the best in the industry for zero experience with bonuses on mileage and safety, and as a nice perk they are putting in all there trucks Direct Tv with NFL package and 24 inch TV's, plus fridges and inverters included too. Also their trucks are governed at 66 mph, unlike others at 57-62. Now the biggest negative I think you'll hear is they have cameras on the driver, but the only activate when you make sudden moves ( sudden stops, sharp turns, quick acceleration). They say this is for our protection and has helped prove drivers innocence on many accidents, but if they during an "incident " see you texting, your screwed, also it only records the last 30 seconds, they can't just go and look back over minutes or hours, and that's from just the incident.

I have arrived at the Shayona Inn in Eden, NC. No roommate yet, room is what one can expect, does have a fridge and mic and coffee by the cup maker. Bonus is Wifi is good and the cable has HBO and Showtime! 😃

If you can't drive through tunnels and over some bridges with a 20# propane tank on your RV, would DHS or DOT go for 10x as much CNG?

I'm a disgruntled ex-salesman. Turns out after 20 yrs of selling everything from exotic yacht vacations to solar panels to real estate to computers to mortgages, I rather dislike people in general. I would rather not have to ever try to persuade another human being to earn a living ever again. I am looking forward to the solitude of the open road.

I'm thinking of driving the 6 hours to MTI CDL school for the 3 1/2 week CDL portion but I'm concerned about Having time to return it to my home. I was told I could take a few days after CDL school before getting on my trainers truck and that said trainer could pick me near home (which shouldn't be big problem as I live a mile of I-95 in Maryland. Do you think this a good idea or should I just bus it down?

Just putting it out ther in case anyone one this forum is attending as well. Passed my states CDL permit and DOT physical and am finding this site awesome for info including finding Brett's Millis review when making my decision.
