I'm finally a few days away from beginning the training with Millis and was curious if anyone here is going to Cartersville on 08/10.

I was told there will be 13 in the training course. I was hoping for 2-3...lol, but compared to prime and others I probably should be jumping for joy! Which I am actually. I'm ready to get this started.

Thanks for all the help here at this site, you folks have been great!

Well, if you didn't show up to train for Millis, you should have. On day two of training we got to restack about 22 pallets of Coors 12 packs @ $20.00 an hour. Took bout 4 hrs..so a easy 80 bucks...ty Millis and esp thanks to the driver that hit his breaks so damn hard.

Everything about this place is great so far, everyone I've come into contact with has good attitudes and the otr drivers are getting 3k miles on a regular basis. Talked to around 12 or so of them.

Tomorrow, day three, we will already start doing the Millis 500 and backing maneuvers.... And you will be hard pressed to beat the starting pay for new drivers, .35 cpm plus add in the milage bonus of .4 cpm with 2500 miles driven in a week, .5 cpm at 3k....which makes a great starting pay for a new driver, that's not counting the quarterly safety bonus.

This company still hauls beer and still seems to be one of the top paying for new guys. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Take care

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

Tommy C. I was not able to get my stuff together for August class so I will be starting the September 8 class in Cartersville. I will follow your thread and please pass along any info that would be good to know coming in behind you in a few weeks.

I'm starting in Eden, NC on the 24th, hoping for a small class as well. Glad to hear you're finding things as the recruiter stated.

I start August 24th in Ohio. Was going to come to Cartersville starting this week since it's closer, but I needed a couple of extra weeks to get everything done. It's great to hear good things about the training and the company. Will be following this thread.

So far, its all legit as advertised. Last day of classroom stuff tomorrow and they told us rest of training will be spent out with trucks, not bad at all. You will have like 26 chapters of bookwork you can complete in motel, homework, plus 5 inch manual to study about all aspects of trucking.

It's fast paced but easy to do and only requires bout hour each night to do the homework before you jump into the pool and smoke some ribs ...lol. I'm really liking it all, trainers are good ppl and will answer any and all questions before you go back to motel. Plus, we get to drive a company vav back and forth to the facility if you are one that stays in the motel.. If you need to run to Walmart or even run down the road to get some wings etc..they take care of you on all that type stuff. You can even ride back up to the terminal and do laundry free if you needed to. Great company so far.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

One thing, you don't have to lug 3 weeks of food down here, just bring a little cause you can take van 3 miles to Walmart to buy things. Helps a lot.
