How is Schneider Tanker division?

I like it. On pay I gross between $700-$1000 a week. It varies. Benefits are good. They have 401k with company match. Health is $30 dental is $3 vision $2 (per week) get home every weekend for a 34 hr reset sometimes 48 hrs. I run regional so Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, some Georgia. They may be dedicated where you are. I wish I could get a dedicated route lol. But overall I like it here &I I would say I'm on track to make 45k-50k my first year.

That's good, company I'm in goes north to Wisconsin and Illinois so it'll be a nice change for me, pay sounds decent too. I look forward to see what tanker is like.

Thanks.

How do you deal with...

Guys, thank you for responding and for the support. As suggested, I do need sleep, so this post is going to be as short as possible.

Old School...I will give serious considstation to the pity party vibe, that's not how I wish to come across. Thank you for the honesty...but, I really do want to hear how others cope. In those responses, I hope to find some ways that I can adapt to my world, because crying and cussing, though releases also, are rather unproductive.

For example, exercise is a great stress reliever., but rather difficult when behind the wheel. Solo, I can blast (not really lol) music though, and that is one of my releases.

For now, sleep is how I'm handling it. I need it. However, I'll be back later to continue. Night all!!

Well if it makes you feel better this is from a rookie driver with 7 months of experience.

Like Sambo said screaming helps, if it's just you in the truck no one will hear you and it helps to release the frustration out, and if that doesn't help talk to a friend or family member on the phone and tell them your situation.

For example, I delivered at a Tyson in Bells, TN coming from another Tyson in which state I forgot. Upon entering there they check the reefer fuel level b/c it has to be 3/4 quartz or above to go in, when security checked I was told I had to go get more fuel. The there was a Phillips 66 near there that you had to take the bypass around the city to get to it, and as I arrived there I couldn't get no fuel b/c the company I drive for was on a cardless system and you needed a company card to get fuel. The clerk was new and didn't know how to do it or if it was even possible to pay cardless at a phillips 66 b/c I told my fleet manager about it, then I looked on trucker's path and the nearest pilot I had to go to was all the way in Hayti MO which was probably at least 50-100 miles.

I couldn't express to you how badly I wanted to quit.

So I went ahead to the Pilot got fueled up and shot my way back to Tyson, they took the trailer in and after that I just went on to my next work assignment.

There's a saying I like to go by, "The sun will always come after a stormy day". Despite how much stressful situations you can go through just focus on the situations that will bring you peace.

Despite what happened to me at Tyson I still have things that keep me happy, family, friends, and personal hobbies that I enjoy doing when I shut down. Once I shut down and engage in my hobbies I just let it all go and move on to the next load I have to deal with.

I hope this helps.

How is Schneider Tanker division?

I'm always on here browsing the Forum. I don't say much I just read. But I currently work at Schneider National Bulk Carriers. I have been with them for 5 months now. What would you like to know? The phone interview is basically going over your application & giving you a few details about the job you will be doing. Nothing major, nothing to worry about, nothing to study for lol. Where do you live? I went through their Training in Houston, Texas.

Brandon, MS, they told me they have a dedicated route where I live and the offer sounds way too good to pass up.

Do you like it?

Is the pay good? I was told they make 58K a year. I was like wow if that's true.

Are the benefits great?

What are all the places you go to for them?

Thanks for both of your responses guys.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of hauling box anyway, I mean the sitting at shipper and receiving for over 5 or more hours I tend to be like "Meh I gotta go back into the dock now."

Got a phone interview with them Monday at they told me I'll be home every weekend, I've honestly haven't heard nothing but about them from what I've researched and so far I have the experience I need to work for them so it seems like a good opportunity.

This will be good b/c I can get tractor trailer experience with liquid hauling which looks like a plus.

Truck Versus Car Incident - Who Was Wrong, & Could It Have Been Avoided?

I would say they both were,

The guy in the rig should've slowed down and let the car merged though, it's not like the driver in the WV tried to merge without signalling(I've had that happen to me plenty of times.).

Of course the accident could've been preventable from both drivers because if you ask me the Trucker looked like he was speeding up to beat the WV. Chances are they came down on him harder because he's a professional, that word will get you all the time when something like this happens.

Honestly if that was me in his situation I would've just let the car merged and be done with it, it's not worth the headache of contacting safety and telling them the details of what happen and all that stuff.

Went to NY and NJ for the first time...

double-quotes-start.png

This was honestly the worst trip I've ever had up to date in trucking so far, luckily I didn't get to the city intensive part of NY but traffic was still packing even at 2 or 3 o clock in the morning. I'm from MS and you'll never see traffic like that down the interstate.

It actually made me be more appreciative that I'm from the south. smile.gif

The backing was a nightmare but it was doable, the worst ones were in NJ where you have to back up into the dock in the middle of a street, not only were they tight but you had traffic as well to deal with.

I was so glad to be done with the load getting out of NJ, I hope I don't go back up there ever again.

Just pull the brakes and yell at those around you...they'll think you live there. Lol I can say that cause I'm a jerzee girl

Funny you should say that, I was talking to another driver before I shut down and he suggested I use the airhorn in traffic lol.

J.B. Hunt

JB Hunt is a huge company that changed its focus years ago to using the rail system to transport a lot of goods. So a large part of their driving force is intermodal drivers who haul goods in between the customers and the rail yards or the shipping ports on the coast. So most of the time you'll be staying in a given area and you'll be seeing a lot of the same places time and time again.

If you're looking to stay within a smaller area and want to get home more often they're an excellent company to consider.

Thanks for the response Brett, is what they say about the money raise depending on the miles you run is true though? And is it great?

J.B. Hunt

Earlier I made a topic about being offered a local job, I changed my mind and wanted to get my otr experience instead 'til thanks to someone in that thread(I forgot the person's name sry) brought up JB Hunt.

They said they have a regional dedicated account in my area which seems nice as I'll be going to the same place over and over again which is nice because I'll be more familiarized with the area.

They also say the raises you get is based on how many miles you run which also sounds real nice. I'm real tempted to take this job if it does ever shoot my way.

Lastly, I haven't heard too many bad things about them either come to think of it, what are some people thoughts on them or had exp with them?
