Am I too tall to be a driver?

At 6/7 I have no problem being a truck driver. I often run 6 hours plus each day before taking a break to stretch. I've driven a freighliner Cascadia and a Kenworth T680. You'll be just fine.

Mandatory shutdown

Stevens Transport sent messages regarding bad weather and urged drivers to shutdown if you don't feel. They never made it mandatory.

I made the decision to shutdown about 8 hours ago. No load is worth the risk IMHO.

Nashville in the Snow

I'm in Accomac Virginia on weather shutdown. The white stuff is coming down hard.

Be safe out there Errol.

Looking like Stevens

I currently work for Stevens Transport. The training, smiles, and equipment is top notch. My DM is awesome and gets me home when I'm ready. The only real negative is that company drivers start at 30.CPM with a one cent raise each year, pretty low pay. Leasing is the other option and don't recommend it to rookie. As my mentor told me your first year in trucking shouldn't be about money but experience. The money will come with experience.

OTR vs no OTR to get your dream job

The problem with finding a local truck driving job is that most require 1yr to 2yr experience, unless you have connections.

Regional will still keep you away from home at least to two weeks at a time. Most companies don't offer regional until 90 or more days after your hire date.

You may be best served to get your passenger endorsement and drive a school bus or city bus if being home is a concern. Most newbie truck drivers have to earn their stripes over the road at least a year or two before home every day opportunities become available.

What is your favorite trucking Manufacturer?

Kenworth vs Peterbilt vs Freightliner vs Volvo vs International vs Mack vs Western Star

I know someone will say a truck is a truck but what are you the most partial to and why?

Freighter Cascadia is my personal favorite at the moment. It has plenty of space for my 6'8 inch frame and it has a very good turning radius. I'm running about 7.6 mpg.

You're 6.8 talk...?? I'd love to get a bear hug from you! Hahaha!!

I like all of them, specially the new shiny trucks. :) As far as how they handle, etc. I'll get back to you in a few years from now...lol

Lol!😁

What is your favorite trucking Manufacturer?

Kenworth and Peterbilt. Although I'm a big fan of the International 9900 series. I just love the classic look with the long hood.

The long hood trucks do look awesome.
