Did my DOT physical today

double-quotes-start.png

You do a DOT physical for school. You do a drug testing and most likely another physical when a company wants to hire you.

I had to drug test for school. Not sure if this is common or not but they wouldn't let you operate a semi on the public roadway without one, probably for insurance reasons.

Phil

Yeah, I've seen some schools say they require drug testing, and from the research I've done, it's been stated several places that the DOT physical needed for school has a UA test.

Unfairness of Pay by the Hour and The Fair Labor Act

Mileage pay increases incentive to drive fast, accidents hurting records discourages unsafe driving.

You guys are both right.

I think being on the road and in isolation doesn't give people a chance to practice their communication skills as much as others, and there are still plenty of people who go into the trucking profession who aren't exactly sharp as a tack, just like the rest of the world's population.

But that's another topic that's probably not totally relevant to this conversation.

I know that I've personally made a lot of stupid blunders in my life and people claim that I'm a very intelligent person.

DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

Just curious, but to get into a truck driving school they do drug tests (UA and/or hair) too? (DOT or otherwise?)

Looking at 3 schools in SoCal

Whereabouts in SOCAL are you looking? California Career School is located in Oceanside. I can vouch for this school personally. awesome instructors and very great training.

Actually around the Anaheim area would be perfect.

Did you go through their program?

How much does it cost?

Looking at 3 schools in SoCal

I'm looking at 3 schools in SoCal. (if you can recommend any other [good hopefully] ones, that'd be more than appreciated)

Toro, Dootson, and American Trucking.

Toro has bad reviews, but can I pass and get a job? That's what I care about. Dootson/American seem like their reviews are fake so...

Tips on figuring out which one I should do?

Also, how long is my license good for, before it goes bad, do I have to renew, etc. in case I decide to take an extended break (maybe go back to a college for 2 years) before I start applying as a truck driver.

Did my DOT physical today

This was my first hair test ever.

So you do the DOT physical to START school, or to start working at a company?

I asked a school recruiter and they didn't mention ANYTHING about drug testing, which I thought was odd.

I know there's a list on the forums of what companies do Hair and which do UA.

But you do a UA before school starts or in your case a hair test?

How to check messages on the Forum

How do I receive private messages, or read replies in forums?

I select "Notify me of new comments" but don't know where the notifications are, and I've sent private messages, but don't know where my inbox is.
