Driver Killed After Semi Flips During High Winds On NC Bridge

I would have thought they would have been shut down during that time of the storm while it passed through? But then again I am also a newbie in the industry and still learning. I have always been told that you are the captain of your own ship. If a situation doesn't feel right then speak up and say something, prime example, a situation like this story. Sad thing to read though.

Tanker jobs and high pay at Dupre' Logistics LLC

Unfortunately I live in Kansas where most trucking outfits do not hire from . Very hard to get a job living here . I have found only a few and of course none where i live in the biggest city in Kansas . Kansas , where truckers go to die . If you do not work for a company that is located here you probably are not going to be working . well unless you want to work for the big guys no one wants to work for . will keep your ad in mind in case I decide to move .

I get that this is an old post, but I can't resist. I do specifically remember it has been almost a year to the day when I began thinking about driving a truck and started looking at jobs. Just for the record, I do live right smack dab in the central part of Kansas, hell I am in Salina to be exact. I am going to have to disagree with your statement that it is very hard to get a job living here. Are you kidding me?!?!?!? There are outfits all over the state that hire! Irish Express over by Manhattan, we have Great Plains Trucking in Salina, Groendyke Transport out of Hutch, let's not forget about Farmers Oil and Accord Transport. There's Keim TS up in Sabetha as well as Doug Bradley here in Salina, plus all the major companies you speak so poorly of that are hiring in Kansas. I can honestly count on one hand how many companies I spoke with that weren't hiring out of the area because their current accounts were full at the time, however, for that small amount that did not have any openings equated to well over 30 companies local and OTR companies I spoke with about positions. So you may not be in Salina next to 135 and 70 but come on man, there are a ton of options in Kansas for truckers.

Starting with Werner

I had it listed in the last response but it got blocked out some how. Anyway, I am going to Groen**** Transport Inc. They are a tanker company based out of Enid, OK I believe. Super excited about it, I actually had my heart set on going there after getting some experience and getting past these few hurdles. Fortunately enough, after saying some prayers and knowing a few of their top tier drivers that put in some good words few me, they have decided to give me a shot!! Now it is just the long dreaded wait until orientation begins. Can't wait to get going!

Two weeks notice or no?

Reputation is everything in my book. Might as well keep a good one ya know? If it were me, again soley just me, I would do the two weeks just because I hate burning bridges and I would much rather leave on good terms in case I ever needed to come back for what ever reason! Hope it all works out for ya!

Put it this way.... If you take the professional, high road, no one can say anything to the contrary.

But I'd you don't, then you run the risk of someone smearing you.

Just my feelings on it. You only have your reputation, and that is built on your actions.

Learning to drive is definitely a learning curve and much more if you haven't ever driven a manual. Word to the wise and keep pushing forward and learn with the manual. Reason being is if you test on an automatic, you will be restricted to automatics only and there will be a restriction on your CDL. I do recall when I was interviewing with Schneider, having that restriction was a no go for them, you had to have tested out with a 10 speed. Are they teaching y'all to double clutch or float the gears (shift without using the clutch)? Keep your head up and give it some time, most importantly relax! You'll get it! Best of luck!
