Pam/Driver solutions Contract

Thanks for all the input, sorry I stirred up a hornets nest on this, I get all of your replies and understand, I guess I just thought that pushing you to get your cdl as fast as they did was setting us up for failure. I already had a permit when I started. I guess what got me is the driving time or lack there of. You would learn to drive in one type of Bobtail and then learn how to back a trailer in an older model which is totally different clutch than the one you got used to. Then on top of that you could only spend 45 min a day on the track. I guess I was expecting to be trained on the same kind of rig through out and more time in cab. My hope is to go back into a training school as that was not the only reason I had to bail.

From one of the experienced people that works there, you will be on the road forever in order to make the money you want but that is not the reason I would like to pursue driving. I have a passion for it, but guess I had a totally different thought process of training. I do currently have all my tests passed I have a permit all I need now is to pass the CDL drive test.

Maybe now that I have all that behind me, that is what may have got me feeling the way I was. It would be great to get with and awesome trainer because I dont have any issues with being on the road with a stranger or anything. I guess time will tell....

Thanks again to all of you...........

One last question.......Do you always have to double clutch in a rig?

Drivers Solutions/PAM Transport Training Log.

Chad, I have been following you since you left Stevens. I quit Stevens training in the second week because I just don't agree on going solo after just 9 weeks. I am looking at PAM to start again. Did you get the feeling Stevens had the dps office in their pocket? Anyway, please keep me updated as I will be looking back into CDL training again soon.

Pam/Driver solutions Contract

Javon, I just dropped Stevens training last week because I could not logically understand how anyone that had never driven could go solo after just 2 weeks in training and 6 weeks on the road with a trainer. Why would you want to pay 12k (double) just because you have a problem with being with a stranger. You really should honor your contract, cause the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I promise you when you get to Stevens, it is like pushing cattle through and they don't care how you get your CDL (giving you answers to your testing, saying they are all about safety, and really could give a rats a$& about you)

Just remember the grass is not always greener........

Starting my Training July 5th with Stevens

Thanks for the info, funny thing these were the ones I was going to get...... As far as boots, what is your preference - Brahma are steel toed and you can also get timberlands without steel toes.

Starting my career soon with Stevens Transport March 2016

Thanks Chad, I was told that women drivers are put with woman trainers, so hopefully I can get with her. I am going to get my permit this week before I go into training. Thanks for all the info you posted it helped me in more ways than you can imagine. Once I start the training, I will journal it here as well. One other thing, did you feel as though you were on parole having to check in with the recruiters every Friday and Monday between 8AM and 10AM?

Starting my Training July 5th with Stevens

I am starting my training with Stevens Transport in Mesquite on July 5th. I have asked but not gotten an answer as to what is the best boots and gloves to purchase. I have been told though that the boots DO NOT have to be steel toed. Can someone please let me know from experience what type or brand of gloves are the best and what type or brand of boots are the best? Steel toe or no steel toe?

Starting my career soon with Stevens Transport March 2016

The Chad, how is PAM working out? I am scheduled to start at Stevens July 5th. After reading all of this it makes me wonder what I am getting myself into. Since they gave you the boot do you still have to pay them back? Are they real butt holes in class?

Wanting to get my CDL

Thanks C.S. , I have already started on my testing here and seem to be doing pretty good so far. Seems the corporate world is not looking for someone with experience anymore. I have about 5 weeks left to make my decision before my severance runs out.

Wanting to get my CDL

I have just been laid off from my job after 30 yrs and I want to get my CDL but the different CDL training schools and different trucking companies are really overwhelming. Can any of you ladies help me out and give input on where to start for a female? Do you have insight already on whether private school or company is better? I have been wasting time time trying to make the right choice. Please help me out

Looking for the best private school Dallas area

I am ready to take the leap and go get my CDL, however, reading all the forums information I dont see anywhere that would recommend either the top private school or company in the Dallas area. Anyone have any great pros and cons?
