Looking to switch companies

I knew there was a reason I liked this website. Thanks for all the advise guys! I'll keep at it for the time being and try to talk to my DM about getting more miles. I know she wants to get them and even tried to take one off that was super short but couldn't because we had to do it. I do my best and hope things will improve over time. Thanks for everything guys!!!

Looking to switch companies

Hmm, there's an idea. I haven't thought of that. I have to go up to our headquarters to get a fuel issue addressed. Maybe I can talk to my DM about it then. I also didn't think that they would be testing me. I didn't think they would do something like that, especially since I went through their training program and passed. When I was with my trainer, I cleared 10k miles in 3 weeks and graduated with 12k miles. Thanks for the advice there!

Looking to switch companies

It's been depending on the freights. I'm currently waiting on a load that was supposed to be ready yesterday so I'm only getting paid for two loads this week. I do the best that I can with what I'm given, accepting loads quickly and all that. I don't really care so much about the governor as the pay and a terminal near home. Since I got out of hometime on July 3rd, I have run a grand total of 2900 miles; however, that has been split into at least two pay checks so it doesn't seem like a lot. My last one was $241. Now if I could run that and get it all in one paycheck, that would make my day, but my best one has gotten me a bit more that $500. If I can get this load that I'm still waiting for delivered before Tuesday night then I might turn a good week this time around. I do my best to deliver early and I run as hard as I can. I would just like some more consistency, you know? I would love to stay with Celadon, but I need some help sticking around past my contract. I can clear 500 miles in a day easy, but I need the loads in order to do it, you know? If things change within a year then yeah, it could argue for me to stick around with Celadon. It's why I'm just doing research and seeing if I need to switch for those reasons. I can clear the 2.5k miles in a week but I would like it to all be on the same paycheck at least.

Looking to switch companies

I'm a company driver. I can't even get them to pay for all the actual miles that I drive. I had one load that was 110 miles over what they said it would be and didn't pay me for it just because that's what my GPS said versus whatever system they used. So sadly...no, can't do that, not unless I switch to owner operator which I'm not doing. Thanks for the suggestion though.

In answer to the question about pay raises, it's 1cpm every 120k miles. I do plan finishing my contract before doing anything so I don't owe them anything. I've been doing my own research about this but I thought I would ask more experienced drivers for some suggestions. I'm having difficulty just getting consistent miles with Celadon and I've been with them for two and a half months. I'm barely breaching 1000 miles a week here for the most part. That's another reason why I was looking elsewhere. Please keep the suggestions coming!!

Looking to switch companies

I'm currently with Celadon, running under contract for them so I don't have to pay them back out of pocket for the training. However, they only pay 27 cents a mile during this timeframe; once I finish it, they bump me up to 33 cents a mile as a company driver. From what I've heard from other drivers, that's like pennies basically. So, I'm looking to change companies after I finish my contract, which should take about a year. The things I'm looking for are better pay, mostly drop and hook, no touch freight and a terminal in Gwinnett County, GA because I live there. A governor higher than 65 would also be great. I've heard that Averitt and US Express are good and I know that Averitt has a terminal that's like 10 minutes from my house. Any suggestions?

Dogs or Cats: Which pet to bring OTR?

Hello all, I just started driving OTR with Celadon Trucking. They are a pet friendly company with a 50lb weight limit. However, I'm going solo and want to bring a friend with me...a furry friend that is. I just can't decide which one to bring. I've had cats before, but they've all been outside cats. And, I've always wanted to get a dog; plus I figured with this new job I would actually have the money to care for him. Any advice out there? I do know that as far as dogs go, smaller is better because of the small I'm going to be in and I'm hoping for one that has had at least some training since it'll be my first one. But, which pet is easier to care for over the road: a dog or a cat? Help!

Looking for good Team Driver company

Hello out there, I am currently in training with Celadon and should be graduating within two weeks or so. I've made a friend in this program and we would both like to team drive. However, I'm not entirely sure if we want to stay with this company. We're going to do the 120k miles in order to not owe this company anything and complete the contract of course. Does anyone out there have a really good recommendation? We're looking for OTR with at least 2 weeks out minimum. I also have a damaged knee that sometimes acts up on me so I need as little loading as possible. So, just as a recap: looking for good company with Team drivers, an OTR position with at least 2 weeks out minimum, little to no loading at all, good benefits and pay....all that good stuff. Any suggestions?
