Paper Log Status Order

I've asked around and no one knows why they are in that order so far either. I'm thinking I'll send DOT and email about it.

I'm not sure why they have it in the order they have it in but it's been that way for at least 25-30 years that I know of and probably long before that.

Best Cell phone companies for truck drivers?

So far the coverage has been good but I ended up upping to the 10GB plan. I try to stay with low ress videos and what have you whenever possible...

Guess I'm going with StraightTalk then. I have a T-mobile iPhone 6 I purchased outright and it seems it'll work fine from what I read.

Swift Training @ C1 Indy

This happened to me and I'm still in the process of talking to the FMCSA about my very bad experience. So far, they give me the impression they don't care, tough luck...

Andrea, not to worry. There is provision in the regulations for that to happen, but that's for cases where someone is suspected of cheating by substituting someone else's urine for theirs.

Usually you get a (tiny) toilet room all to yourself, and the lab clerk has a table full of cups right outside.

My Swift Journey, cont.

I'm happy you got such a good mentor mate. They are currently looking for my third mentor and I've been having a really bad time. The school wasn't that great but I passed on my first try anyways, trying my best to teach myself. They had some good instructors but the school format wasn't as helpful as I hoped. For one, I would have loved to go and back up all day after school and on our days off but we didn't get that option. I remember I asked the owner of a farm if I could stay and practice backing the farm tractor/dolly/trailer and he said yes. I backed that thing until it got dark a couple days in a row after work.

Anyways, I know one of my classmates traded mentors and her second one is great. I was informed I only get three before I have to sit down with my DC and her supervisor. I was going to stick it out with the first mentor but the next guy was too much to handle for me and they decided to move me for the first one.

Paper Log Status Order

As I read up on how to do paper logs, it bugs me the order they have your status as. Can someone explain what is the reasoning behind the way they have it numbered. I would think driving should be all the way down or even on the top. When I see Off duty and Sleeper, I think that makes sense as one is more removed from the job then the other. Then I see driving followed by on duty, I think they would make more sense flipped. Driving would seem to me the purest connection to the job so it would then follow: Off Duty-Sleeper-On Duty-Driving.

Doesn't that make more sense? Also, why not then flip them to have it rise as you get "more connected". I rising line seems more intuitive then a falling one. Thoughts?

Good Luck Mate.

Just spent overtime @ school. Got to drive for an hour & a half after class, just me and an instructor riding shotgun. He said there's no doubt I got this as long as I keep cool. I'm testing again tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

I just passed my CA CDL tests and got my permit. I'll be heading out to the school in Fontana on the 3rd of next month. Really great read mate. I've never driven one of these trucks but have a small amount of experience pulling and backing a one axle trailer with a one axle dolly using a farm tractor. Maybe that won't help me at all here but it exposed me to pulling heavy loads so that's good for something I hope.

Not US Born.

Thanks for the answer and link, really helpful.

Hey, i have a similar issue as you, I am not with the Daca program you in but my legal status is pretty similar. you can see my thread where i ask something prtty much like you here https://www.truckingtruth.com/truckers-forum/Topic-13846/Page-1/how-many-of-you-have-hazmat-endorsement

basically only to get the Hazmat endorsement you need to be a permanent resident or U.s citizen, i believe DACA is neither. you should be ok driving a truck and getting every endorsement except hazmat. Good Luck getting you class A

Regards

Hi guys,

I recently got my work permit renew and was wondering if I will encounter any trouble applying for a Class A in California? Some material I read says I must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident. My manual just says I must be over 18(21 interstate) and mentions bringing my social and documents of legal presence. I originally applied for differed action and a work permit in 2013 as I was brought over by my parents at a young age.

I'm currently talking with Swift and in the process of studying for my Class A and getting my DOT physical.

Thanks.
