Tanker drivers

Have another question to throw out there. Are their classes that drivers can take to get the haz-mat endorsement?

Thank you Rick. I’ve been sitting on that endorsement since 2016 when I got my Class A. Being where I’m from the recruiter said that they do have stuff in the Midwest. I”m just looking for stuff between SouthEast Georgia, and Minnesota. At some point I’ll be moving down to Southeast Georgia. Just don’t know when.

Merry christmas!

Tanker drivers

Hi there Everyone!

I have a question. What is pulling a tanker like? Can anyone tell me anything about Bynum? If you don’t suggest Bynum which company would you suggest? Right now sitting down here at the TA in Pioneer, TN.

What city are you delivering the load to? Maybe there's somewhere you can stop along the way and get a reset in and be a tourist for the day. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot to do in New Ulm this time of year, especially with covid shutdowns and I can't think of many truck parking options there anyways. I know they have a large festival, the Bavarian Blast over the summer. Also. My grandpa (R.I.P.) used to go to New Ulm for their homing pigeon races.

Are you currently driving for a smaller company, or who do you drive for?

I only mention this because you're inquiring about changing jobs. Assuming you're still in St Joseph MN as profile says, Have you considered checking out Coborns in St Cloud? I drive for a subsidiary of Hyvee and absolutely love it. I can't speak for Coborns payscale but we're paid extremely well where I'm at. My employer pays us hourly, Hyvee pays their drivers mile/stop, last I heard Supervalu/ UNFI (Hopkins) pays hourly as well. It would likely get you home daily or near daily if that's your goal.

Well here we are. It’s Dec. 3, and I have to load Friday morning down in New Ulm, and deliver on Monday morning. The kicker in all this is that I’ll have to sit half the day Saturday, and all day Sunday without getting paid. When asked if there is anyway to get layover pay my boss just said they probably wont pay anyways because its on the weekend. All I can say is outch!

What I wanted to ask is if there are any drivers on here who drive for Bynum or gypsum express. I do have a non-hazardous tanker endorsement. The other option I was thinking about was going with flatbed. Again I don’t know anything about flatbed because my last years have been all dryvan/refer. I’m not complaining just trying to talk about my situation is all I want to do.

Thank you for reading & Merry christmas,

Hi

Hi Everyone,

How's everyone's 2017 going for them so far? Well I quit the job I started at last summer at the end of October because of the lack of a pay raise. Even after being given the benefit of the doubt, and I went back to bus driving. So I'm starting to look around for this coming summer.

The best lead I have to go on is with pan-o-gold. I got the contact from a member of snowmobile club that I payed a visit to. I looked into Western Express all they have for my neck of the woods (Minnesota area) is flatbed. Kind of hard to do something on 4 months of experience, but I'll keep looking.

Take care!

Hi there Everyone,

How are we all doing? I haven't posted here in awhile. Next week I will be with Farner-Bocken for 4 months. I haven't seen a pay raise yet though so not sure what to do. Is there anyone out there that has or is dealing with Schneider national? What are they like? Wonder if it be worth my time to look at prime again now that I have 4 months.

Take care,

Ben
