Home time question

Unfortunately I have to have a co driver (once contract is up I'm finding a good solo company, unless my company Will let me run solo) and he parks at the terminal so I have to go there to drop him off then I can drive home. I have enough room to park the truck so I don't need a truck stop.

Thanks for clarification Rick. I was thinking privately owned vehicle.haha.

That is something I Will definitely ask my DM about. That would be nice.

Home time question

If your company allows POV (personal vehicle usage), you will have a "Line 5" available to log with. This doesn't count towards 11/14/70 clocks.

This is usually only available to Lease or Owner-Ops.

Otherwise - all time behind the wheel is ON DUTY DRIVING.

You are still operating a CMV - regardless of whether you are BT or not.

Likewise applies to weigh stations - and your logs better be current for those also, in case you get pulled in. Since you are operating a CMV - you need to roll through the weigh stations, not ignore them.

But you honestly - should check with your SAFETY/LOGS department - to verify how they want this logged.

Rick

I'll just log it as if I were still working just to be safe. If I had a POV I'd take it to the terminal and leave it there but since I don't it's either the bus ride or now the truck.

Home time question

Thank you Rainy , that makes sence. I live about 200 miles from the terminal. I don't have any problem on my way home staying on duty but when I come back to the terminal I'm going to be using up my hours already.

Home time question

So I'm going home this weekend and I finally get to take my truck instead of taking a 6 hour bus ride.

My questions are 1: while driving the truck home do I have to have myself logged in on Qualcomm using my HOS or is there some setting for when your off?

2: when BT do I need to pull into the weigh stations or is it ok to bypass them.

I love in San Diego CA if that helps any answers.

Thanks for any replies

Back to the drawing board... XPO vs. CRST ... What are your thoughts?

I'm a driver for CRST. I'm not a big fan of teams either but I've been lucky and have been able to get along with my co driver Anyway, I've been on a dedicated route for XPO. Driving from Washington to Tennessee and back.

I dint really have a point I just thought it was kind of funny you thinking about one of the two and I'm basically driving for both.

Ok. I'm done now...

2017 freightliner problems

Thanks for all the replies. I'll check the display once my co driver is done driving . But yes, it is a big deal going up even a small grade loaded and the tranny wants to shift from 10th to 12th gear while I'm floored and let the rpm's drop to just a little under 1,000 and start to big down.

CRST truth please

I work for crst and I really can't complain. Their training school is fast paced and you'll learn a lot in a short ammoi t of time. The real learning comes when you go out with your lead driver. I had a great time with mine. I heard bad thin g about other people's but mine was great. We ran 30,000 miles on 6 weeks.

I'm running as co drivers right now and I have not sat for ore than 10 hours yet. My DM seems to be good. As of right now I Stoll have 800 miles before I reach cosignee and he already set e up with another 1,800 mile run that picks up 10 miles from where I drop off an hour after.

The pay could be better but no one is going to pay you enough to get rich when first starting out. Stick with it and the raises will come

2017 freightliner problems

I don't like how in eco mode it will skip gears or shift super early (like 1300) and the rpm's drop below 1000. Then it will lug real bad so I have to keep manually shifting to previous gear so I can build some power.

I'll have to look for the book. The little light is in the shape of an engine and has no words or lines or anything. Just a blank engine.

2017 freightliner problems

So my company just gave me a brand spanking new 2017 freightliner cascadia with only 8.4 miles on it. First problem is it's an automatic. I suppose I can get used to that but the second problem is that I now have 900 miles on it and the tranny won't come out of eco mode. Makes it very inconvenient. And there is an orange engine light on. Anyone know how to solve this issue so I don't have to relay off my load and sit at a terminal?
