General knowledge

Just got my permit and yes rules and regulations are on it. I used the training here and my states CDL manual. Some questions did vary by state but if you get through the practice test here and the few in the back of your manual on general knowledge you will pass. I never looked at my book for air brakes and combination only the training here and passed both. Good luck.

"My Story: I first went with [insert company] because..."

I have chosen Swift. I start training next week. I'm with tractor man, I read so much bs about them and watched horrible videos, I figured they could not be as successful as they are and be so horrible. So even though I live in Mississippi I was born and raised in Missouri so I will see for myself. And for all the negative haters I will be posting my journey and will video swift drivers doing the right thing.

Swift

Thanks guys. Swift required that I have the physical and permit before I get there. I kicked all three test without missing a question. The High Road Training gave me confidence to be able to do that. Now I'm working on pre trip and HOS since Errol suggested that. Nervous because I understand that it had to be done in the exact order or you can fail.

hello Errol and guys. Quick question. I see on here that some people have to pay a 150.00 fee for something once arriving in Memphis. The recruiter hadn't mentioned it and it's not on the list of things to bring. Can you clarify please. Also they say they give you a pre trip study sheet to go by so you know the order and how to do it exactly. Any chance someone has one they can post so I can study it? Thanks.

Company sponsored training vs Private school

I just went through the same thing. I can afford private schooling, but I have also done a lot of research. It appears in trucking it is going to take some time as a rookie to prove yourself anywhere. This is a job that you can get the jobs you want once that first year is over, If accident free and dependable. So I decided to go with company training. The year I am paying it off will give me much needed experience. And save my own money in case something happens elsewhere or I have a bad week.

Our States Funding cut

Hello guys, I'm new here but will say I love your training program. Went today to get permit but there was no one to give it to me. I am going in the morning. The material on here has given me the confidence I need to pass any written exam. So everyone new should use it. I chose company sponsored schooling because I will need the OTR experience in the long run. Have to start somewhere!

Contacted by Two Recruiters. What to Do?

Hello everyone, have been reading ya'll for a few months. I was also contacted by 2 recruiters at Swift, and 1 from KLLM. I chose the one from Swift that took the time to call me. I start in 2 weeks and will definitely be reaching out. My Swift recruiter has been great so far, has answered every time I called. Thanks to all of you who post. I am learning a lot.
