Hey CT, the starting pay for Millis is $0.42 per mile. They also do not reimburse the tuition after 18 months. Also that $0.42 is for all miles that the truck moves. This is whether you are driving or your trainer! The starting earning potential is amazing!

I'm about 45 min up 75 from Cartersville. I considered milis initially. Just curious, what's the pay rate these days?

Thanks Errol, not sure how well that would go! Lol! I'm not that great of a writer!
Not to worry. The first day is usually all paperwork, pee-in-a-cup and basic orientation.
Here's a project: count how many students there are in the morning, then count how many are still there in the afternoon!
Funny you should mention that.... the girl at the front desk said pretty much the same thing! 😄

Thanks Patrick, do you drive for Millis?
Nope, I ment in general a few of the companies seems a bit out of date, I'm about to start calling Prime soon that's who I plan to drive with to start just waiting to see if I can drop my BP a bit (drowning myself in water and bananas)
Oh gotcha! I've heard good things about Prime. Just ask Rainy! Remember, deep even breaths and ooooommmmmmmmm!

Hi guys,
I just wanted to jump in real quick and let you know that I finally made it to Cartersville and will start with Millis Transfer in the morning! I am totally excited and have you guys here to thank for getting this far. If it hadn't been for Brett and his wonderful High Road Training, I would not have been able to pass my written. All of the great information on the companies that are listed here is extremely helpful in narrowing down the company that is the right fit. I want to thank all of you guys that replied to my silly questions with your infinite patience. Things in the industry have changed greatly in the last sixteen years, (that's how long it's been since I have been behind the wheel of a REAL truck! Lol! )
Thank you all again, I really do appreciate everything!
Oh Brett, some of the info that you have for Millis has changed. They do not reimburse the driver the cost of tuition anymore. They do start you out at a higher rate now. I can't remember what it is now but I will find out tomorrow and let you know.
Thanks,
Anna

Thanks Pj, I'll check it out. Rainy, I agree with you about the weapons thing, I was just asking due to my gift from my sister. I am sorta afraid that it could be taken away from me and the tables would be turned. I don't relish the idea of lying on the ground drooling!!!!

Thank you all for your input. My sister gave me a flashlight that is also a stun gun for Christmas. (I changed the terminology due to he wonderful explanations given.) I guess she wanted to make sure that I have something "just in case...". I guess that would make it a concealed weapon. Hmmmmm, I guess I will wait until I get to GA to clarify with my new company as to their policies. Oh, by the way, I'm starting with Millis Transfer on the 16th!!! So very excited!!!!!!!!

I have a question regarding the possession of tasers on CMVs. Are they legal to carry?

I was given my handle by another driver. I was going by Daydreamer, but he decided that Giggles was more appropriate after we ran all night together. Trust me, he hit it dead on!!!! Everyone else that had been listening to us all rang in in agreement! Lol!

Thanks for the info..... I was planning on going to their school so that's not a problem. It just seems weird that I haven't heard from any of their drivers on here. I was hoping to pick their brains to get a feel for the company, ask a bunch of questions and such.

Finally here!!!!!!
The 0.42 is when you start with your trainer. You get paid this for all truck miles no matter who is driving.
