Best starter companies in the Northeast

Schneider has drop yards all over the place. You would need to talk to a recruiter to find out if there is a yard by you. I'm currently with NFI out of pittston pa.

You don't take the truck home. You have to leave it at one of their drop yards. My drop yard was Tunkhannock pa and my main terminal was Carlisle. Home time was the reason I left. I was only home for my 34 hour reset. Basically a day and a half

I started with Schneider a few months ago so I can give you some input. Schneider is a solid company and they treat their drivers good. Training - their training program is 3 weeks long and they pay $80 a day while training. I chose Schneider because of the length of their training is short when compared to other companies. I will say that their training program is great and I learned allot. Pay - starting pay is .36 a mile northeast regional and I averaged around 2200 miles a week.

Forever overdue update!

Congrats on your first year Miss Miyoshi! I was north east regional for Schneider and now I'm with NFI out of pittston. I run local dedicated and home every day. OTR wasn't for me, so much happier now. Glad to hear that they put you in a position that makes you happier.

Yesterday was a long day!

Shutting down crossed my mind a few times but then the snow would clear and visibility would improve. Then bam whiteout again and then clear. I guess I probably should have parked for a while but the rookie in me said if I stop I will run out of hours. I know my company would understand, they are very safety conscious. I guess I need to learn that I don't always have to meet a deadline. I will say that I drove within my ability and as safely as possible.

Thanks for the insight Brett, I will definitely take your words of wisdom to heart.

Yesterday was a long day!

So I'm on my 5th week solo and had to drive in whiteout conditions. Every time the snow cleared there were cars or tractor trailers off the road. I drove 10 hours and 53 minutes to arrive at my delivery with 7 minutes to spare. NJ to OH on route 80. This rookie was wiped out last night. Looking forward to spring.

Broke down in Waterville ME

The guys at frightliner got me back up and running within a few hours. Seems a coolant hose that runs to the air compressor popped. They replaced the hose and off I went. I did lost the day which sucks but at least it was only one day.

It's -3 degrees F, should I level it idling?

It hit -8 last night. It was cold! I idled the truck for about four hours

I'm in Maine tonight and it's currently -3. Is it ok to shut the truck off or is it best to leave it running?
