OTR Food solution?

My wife sells this stuff http://shop.wildtree.com/pages/cfHome.cfm , No GMO's, Generally Low-sodium, no MSG, no unnecessary chemicals etc... really good stuff but a bit over our budget atm.

As a marinade for steaks, Lawrey's Signature Steak is awesome, buy a 2-pack of NY strips well marbled, fill a large ziplock bag with the Lawreys drop in steaks, remove as much of the air as possible, keep cool in fridge for 30-45 minutes, then cook to order. What I used to do also was to get a few Yukon Gold potatoes, clean skins, cook them in microwave 1 cycle, then spritz with olive oil and roll in Coarse Kosher sea salt, wrap in tin foil and put on grill next to steaks. OR if you can back in my hometown of Syracuse NY we had salt potatoes... to die for...alas out of bounds for me nowadays. try it out and see what ya think, I also cook my corn on the cob this way sans the olive oil, add butter and salt to taste.

OTR Food solution?

I was looking at the 12v Portable stove on that website and was wondering if that might also prove to be useful in a yummy sorta way, all your suggestions are truly appreciated, I had open heart surgery last January so I gotta watch what I use for fuel, lo fat, lo cholesterol, and lo sodium, oh yeah and high Fiber most canned soups have too much sodium for me so I figured dehydrated may be better and from what I've read so far it looks to be healthier for me not sure so I'm still exploring options.

Looked for a om nom nom nom smiley but no luck yet.

OTR Food solution?

*78.98 after $10 Online Exclusive Savings* Augason Farms 30-Day Food Storage Emergency All-in-One Pail by Augason Farms | Item #: 38280 |Model #: 20095 . saw this in a "Sams" flyer that came in my e-mail and was wondering if anyone has tried something similar and what the pros and cons to using it might be in context of subject line. My first thoughts lead me to think that using this in conjunction with a microwave/ cooler/ Water heater it would provide enough in the way of meals and the only other things you may need are the water and a bunch of tupperware. maybe a lil "Smokey Joe" Weber charcoal grill for the protein. Thanx in advance for any input.

Daves not here....

Need some advice in considering becoming a truck driver.

I know from personnal experience that testing for your permit in New Hampshire requires you to have your Plastic New Hampshire DL, most states nowdays will issue a paper temp first and can take up to 60 it took me 53 days to get mine, Also, New Hampshire has no Personal Income tax either or sales tax, but Property taxes can be a bit intimidating if your not careful.

Double Clutch vs. Clutch

An instructor at the school I just finished told us to try putting a paper or plastic cup under one end of a 12" long piece of wood and to then practice tapping the "Clutch" pedal without crushing the cup was the goal, the timing is to just try and get the rhythm down clutch once to get out of gear clutch again to slide into gear I added a Plunger to the floor beside my chair to help too. I may have seen this elsewhere here as well in another thread, but can't remember where so I can't paste a link for ya.

Start with Roehl on Monday

Congrats!! I've completed my CDL school and am just waiting to take my detail here in NH and as soon as I get license in hand I'm off to Roehls Appleton, WI terminal for orientation. Please keep us posted as I will do the same, I think two training experiences for same company at nearly the same time will help others who haven't decided who to go with whether or not ROEHL would be their cup of tea or not.

Medical

I cannot speak for anyone but myself, and I can tell you I have been honest in all of my medical dealings with my prospective employer(Name Withheld) and I have had Quad-Bypass , I am on a Beta blocker, Cholesterol medicine and aspirin. I asked the doctor at the school before I got my DOT card if my condition or my medicine were going to disqualify me outright before I even finished my 1st week of school. he dug through some sort of book and told me that I was good as far as passing the DOT physical but that some employers may have more stringent criteria. I think of it this way, if you don't tell them and you go thru to their orientation, then they have me do a physical with their Dr. and he finds out this or that at that point, I will probably be asked to pay back the costs incurred by them in bringing me out there because I did not disclose this or that. Today as a matter of fact I just faxed off the medical releases required by the company stating my prognosis, and medications that are likely to show up on a hair follicle drug screen. Not sure if what I shared is relevant to your situation but maybe it is and helps you figure out what to do. For me I have too much to lose by not being honest. I want to be able to keep my honor intact if nothing else.good-luck.gif

Wish me luck

Hello Dave,

As you read this I would like for you to begin taking your time as you read these words. Just slow down and as it was said, "take a deep breath". Now, let it out. See how easy that was? That's how easy it is going to be to take the test.

You said it yourself. You are just looking for reinforcement from us. Well, that is what we hope we are doing for you. Giving you what it is that you feel you need to pass this test and become the TRUCK DRIVER you are going to become. Everyone here is either going through what you are going through now or at some point in time has been through what you are going through now.

We can say a great deal of nice things and that's what we are doing. But, bottom line is that it is all up to you. I know you want this bad because I see it in your words. I can feel it as I read them. That's because I have been there. We all work ourselves up over nothing. It's in our nature. Especially when it is so important to us.

Well, here is a big secret I bet you didn't know. The fact that you have joined this forum, studied hard, worked hard and given this 100% + of yourself, I have GREAT confidence in you that you will do very well on your test and will be coming back here telling us all about it with all kinds of these smiley things to show us just how excited and relieved you are.

Don't cut yourself short Dave. You are already 95% finished. The test is just that last 5%. You can do it and I know you can. Now, you have to believe what I do. Do you believe it Dave? Do you believe it Dave? BELIEVE IT DAVE!

Good luck my fellow trucker!!!!

Can't wait to see the post.

LOL well test day came and went. Did pre-trip walk around, Aced. Did In-cab, Aced. Brake Bleed down, Aced, 4 pt brake check, Aced. Remember to remove chocks after bleed down..... newp.rofl-1.gif Trooper complimented me on how well I feathered the clutch and that it was the smoothest ride over chocks he has ever had. Another $120. and we shall see when my next attept is. Disappointed but more confident and , now I'm just ****ed at myself thats way easier for me to deal with than anxiety. hehehe
