From Teaching to Trucking - My Journey So Far
Well, still in the program. I am back at the terminal getting ready for the testing this week. Over a period of 5 weeks out I got to practice backing twice. Hit a pretty low point last night and this morning but got some practice in thanks to the generosity of another coach who was there. I got to do some practice and nailed the 90 and the offset several times as we worked through the afternoon. Tomorrow is more of the same as well as Wednesday with the test looming on Thursday. Very nervous but giving it my all to try to catch up to where I should have already been.
I'll keep you all posted but it's been a very difficult road for me and have had alot to overcome during this time. I'm determined to make this happen and am just taking the moves slow and easy to get through them.
Thank you all for reading and encouraging me. I really appreciate it!
The only advice I wan to give you is to use the VOICE you have.... It seemed you have given this trainer a chance and it hasn't worked out like you planned Don't let this guy ruin your career. Good luck and keep us posted......

What type of drug screening does Werner do?
I'm not going to look it up now, but I believe that Pee Test is the only test accepted by the FMCSA, so far. Do a TT search.
That is correct however some trucking companies have their own policies

DOT Physical - Official form regarding current prescriptions?
I'm going to be taking my DOT physical Monday and I currently take 2 prescriptions. 1) Wellbutrin for mild depression and 2) hentermineP for appetite suppression. I have an appointment with my doctor who prescribes these meds and was wondering if there's a form out there I can print to take with me so he can state taking these meds won't interfere with my ability to operate a CMV. Does anyone know where I can find this form (if it exists)? If not, can someone tell me exactly what the doctor should write?
For the meds you need a doctors release that States I am prescribing this med for mild depression and appetite suppression. it has no limitations for him to operate a commercial motor vehicle.

"You cant't HANDLE the truth!
You want me on that truck, you need me on that truck. I drive the goods so you pathetic shoppers can eat and drink beer over the holidays while I'm freezing in the cold fighting the winds and snows of WY. Instead of whining that my truck is slow, or I caused your accident, a simple THANK YOU would do. Cause I'd rather not have you question the manner in which I provide....
Oh wait... That movie was about Marines. My bad.
THANK YOU LOVE MY BEER!!!!!

I've yet to see where it costs a quarter to use a cart. Bring the cart back and get ur quarter back. Maybe they had too many complaints and discontinued it.
That is at ALDI food stores so they can keep cost down they are a cheap alternative to the regular grocery store. Good prices on some name brands and then they have there own brand

Yo Teach hows it going
Still in training and working towards my CDL - I won't lie, it has not been what I had hoped but I do love the job and focusing on getting through it - in short, training is a nightmare. I did contemplate leaving but am doing my best to get through it.
Just stick with it if you can handle entitled children you can handle this.......

Its a balmy 18° here in NW Arkansas. Mornings like this is when I think about jumping right into trucking. Ill spend 9 hours on a construction site when I could spent the same 9 hours in a heated tractor listening to the BeeGee's.
You had me till the BEE GEES lol

Drivers under contracts working at 1972 wages.
Anyone think with all the laws changing next year in a already driver shortage industry that some of these company's will forgive drivers who left before there contract ended?
No to answer your first question and the only change that will cause some to leave the industry is the Eld which goes into effect 12/17. Being vague in you initial post caused the remarks.

As far as rider and pet policies each Carrier has their own policies. Which is typically once your in your own truck. Each carrier sets cost involved. Once you decide which way you are going to go IE company training or Private school or community or tech school. Then you need to do research on company that fit your wants and needs. Verify Polices regarding Riders and Pets

It's not all about you - much as you'd like to make it so. And we can beat the dead horse about whether or not you came right out and said represented a trucking school - or whether it was pried out of you on our last go around. That's right - we did that on the last discussion.
Hmmm correct not about me but... you brought it up no reason for that was there...

Thanks for all the advice. I'll do some more research before I make my final decision.
I'm scheduled to enroll in Tampa Truck Driving School on 1/9 and have a prehire by Stevens Transport. Upon further review, I see that Stevens while a solid training company, offers lower than average training pay ($350/wk) and starting pay (26cpm). Although I know first year's pay isn't really what to focus on, I will be making a move at the end of the month from NYC to Tampa and going a year without decent income will effect me financially.
just so you are aware Training pay is $450 for three weeks then $500 and it starts at 30. cpm ..... Also Rick. S I didn't hide or keep it private that I worked for a school. Don't really get why you had such a long winded post about what Dominick asked.... well I kinda do know...
