Very few people shift without grinding when they start. Just keep doing your best to learn and listen to your trainer. Main thing is stay calm. If you start rushing when the trainer is getting ansy it is not going to help at all. Without being there I don't have any idea what the issue is such as arm speed between gears or not correct rpms ect. My suggestion is to ask the trainer outside of the truck before to start the day what he feels is causing the issue. Chances are if you talk to him at a time the problem is NOT going on he will have a lot calmer dimeanor. Good luck

I am about to start school with CRST early next month. I am overwhelmingly thankful for this site. It helped me choose how to get my training, where to go for said training, and have a good understanding of what I was getting in to. I have spent several weeks reading the forums and am now starting the High Road training to get me ahead of the game before school. All of you have been extremely helpful without even knowing it. I look forward to working for the same company as some of you and the same industry as the rest of you. I will have many questions in the future and will feel comfortable asking them from you, a group of professionals willing to help. Again, THANK YOU all!!!
Best of luck in school! Ask away someone here will be able to answer.

Hey welcome back man! Certainly glad to hear that things are rolling along for ya out there. You have enough experience now to be an adjunct professor of trucking!
I think of it more like a professional student. Lol One thing is a fact you will continue to learn something daily. It's still a blast and I'm running my rear off. So far since February I have had 5 weeks under 3k and those were home time weeks.

I'm back. After a long absence due to running my tail off and a few family things taking up the majority of my time. I have missed this place! Came back to find the awesome upgrades on the site. Looking forward to trying to help all of you getting into this as much as possible!
Hello, Steve. So how are things going? What kind of job are you in? What can you advise a noob about to start school within a few weeks?
Things are going great Tim. Thanks for asking. The best advice I can give someone starting school is listen and ask any questions you have. I've only been out here almost 2 years and I still learn more and more each day. Luckily I have several friends I can call when I need advice on something I have never encountered before. Also be patient some things will come easy and others will seem like you will never get it. But, remember just as Brett always said everything out here is temporary. I remind myself that on a daily basis. Best of luck in school and any questions you have feel free to ask away.
