I plan on going over the road some one else can dothe dedicated runs for now do not like going down into the cities like you have to do with target, so hopefuly otr Inwill not have to do that as much have had to go into atlanta a few times so not fun at my skill level. I just keep focusing on the little joyes I will have like the silly ass gaxlay CB radio I want for my truck lol. I want this to work out I realy think I could enjoy this life style and career.

I will say that i can normaly get in and out of the parking lots and thought most of the streets with out running over curbs. I think in the long run it will help me to be a better driver. Right now all I can say is I have no desire to do what I have been doing when I am solo I am ready to be dome and just hope it gets better from here I know their is the next level i Of challenges as far as getting deliveries on time and the like. Gess I am At the point of am I ready and canI do it

The things the new Drivers will never know they have missed

I like the idea of drivers looking out for one another and helping each other out. As a new driver I see what I will call contempment for other drivers, I would like to see more hand rasing light flashing and drivers looki g out for other drivers. I have also heard my trainer say he dose not even bother turning on his cb because their is nothing but a lot of trash talking. I have turned on the cb the few times I have spent the night alone in the truck all I heard was static not drivers chatting nothing. I know we drive when we are not driving we are sleeping. I would at least exspect to hear drivers passing by on the highway chatting but I do not know. I have also only been on the road for 3 weeks.

I'm Out

I am also a new driver Phillip so I can understand the struggle. Take your time make the right dession for you but on that note do now made a rash dession and sell your self short, trust me being away from your family is the hardest part of this job for me but maybe look at it like I try to is me givingg upnand goin home going to be the best dession for my family at this point . In the end you have to deside what is best for you, but we all struggle with being away from family being new to the indestry us rookies may struggle with it abit more because at this point we are way out of our comfort zone and way far away from any saftey nets we are used too. Their are pleanty of local and dedicated routs once you have some time under your belt. So the time away from family maybe just a tempary thing keep strongnand do whats best for you best of luck

Week 4 with Warner

So I have been training with Warner for 3 weeks no, I will say I enjoy the job and really enjoy driving trucks I have been strughling with one thing hours of service stuff. My trainer has talked about running almost 6 months with out doing a 34 hour reset. One is that acualy possable and two do you have to run like that to be a TRUCKER. I am trying to sort out how much down time should you take and dose it make you less of a driver if you do want to see a bit of down time. I do not wantnto burn out with in the first six months tryingnto be some super trucker thatIndo not need to be. I do want to be a good safe driver. So what is a farnsplit between the job and down time ?

Trucks

I have driven the Freightliner and the volvo. I like the Volvo, think it would be great for a first truck. But at this point compleeting my training and being safe. Is top of the list, but I do like the Idea of a few of the better trucks

Trucks

As I am starting with Werner I have a question about. Trucks. I have a good idea about the big three. The Petes the KWs and the Freightliner but what about. The volvos and prostars.I hear people say they do not like them. But never say. why. So. What is so bad about the. Volvos and the prostars that make them so bad?

Driving school

I just finished driving school with Roadmasters Truck Driving School in Dunn nc , over all I would say it was a good school. I will offer a few points I am sure it is with most schools like Roadmasters. You the studentnhave to get what you want out of the school if you want to set their and not practise and learn how to drive a truck they are not going to hold your hand. On the other hand if you put forth effort you will learn the basics of driving a truck and have your cdl. By no means would I say you can jump out their and start running the roads. Thats where your first company comes in I thinknthats where your acualy going to lean how to handle that truck correctly, that to me is a bit of a double edge sword your going to be out with a trainer who is working to make money, so he or she has to be able to split traning you with the need to make money. But that i feel is another topic all together and in making this career change the time with a trainer has been my only worry becauae I have read some horrer stories about trainers . So to sum things up I enjoyed over my time with Roadmasters and getting my CDL, i am exsited about acualy gettong on the road I have plans on being and asset to my company and safe amd helpful as possable to other drivers.
