How's the home time with Jim Palmer trucking for people who live in NY?

I'm thinking about going with Jim Palmer but since they're mainly toward the west I want to know if it would be hard for them to get me home. Thanks

Can you lose your CDL if your not currently working as a truck driver?

I have my CDL but currently am not working as a truck driver and don’t plan to be for the next year or so. I’m still going to go in for my DOT physical and stuff like that I just heard from someone that you could lose your CDL and I doubted it but to be safe I’m checking with you guys on here. Thanks in advance.

Breaching Swift’s contract

double-quotes-start.png

I went through Swift for CDL training and signed a contract saying that I would work for them for a year. But after I got to orientation a bunch of family problems started happening so I decided not to do trucking right now. Since I breached the contract what will happen now? I won’t get arrested will I? Also when I do decide to start trucking will it be hard for me to find a job? Thanks.

double-quotes-end.png

I can only state what happened to me in past look up First Year Pay Totals With Prime post it is recent if you like to know a little bit or don't either way. The main thing makes sure you pay the debt back on payments or something period. Make sure you account to exact wording you told whoever why you are leaving them to write it down for reference, Also everything they had told you to write it down or try to remember you have a big commitment you leaving for whatever reason. I am not always for lawyers but I would advise you may ask a free quote for a CDL protector if you are near any decent town you should have one, Because they can have your CDL removed if you went through there program to obtain a CDL , I Don't know what conversations you had with them would suggest any future ones written down, if you are contacted by a lawyer tell them you are recording the conversation and make sure your clear on telling them that if you do a lot more issues will arise if you don't !!

Like I said I have no idea what has been said or hasn't one thing I do know lawyer involved you had better get one if you can if you care about your credit and or CDL. Because the company only will look after its lost investment first being you then determine if you will come back or not based on conversations but don't take their word unless it in writing protect yourself. I am not employed or ever been employed by them I don't know how they operate but they did potently lose an investment so what I know base what has been said They will want the money sooner rather than later because they don't know who you are, to be honest.

This is only my two cents.

Thank you, how could they have my CDL removed? They don’t have access to my states dmv.

Primes upgrade process

Hi, I just recently got my CDL and I’m considering going to Prime for training. Is there anybody on here that went through Primes upgrading process? What do they have you do to upgrade? Do they have you road test and test you on backing? Thank you I appreciate any answers.

Being able to find a trucking job with no experience 1-2 years after getting CDL

Hi I just got my CDL class A and I planned on starting my trucking career right after CDL school but due to personal family matters I’m just going to get my old job back as a construction laborer for the time being. I’m going to do this for the next year or so then I plan on starting my trucking career, will I have a hard time finding a company to work with if I do this? Thanks.

How long would it usually take for Swift to get back to me?

I applied to Swifts CDL training program about a week ago and I haven't heard anything from them yet and when I try calling the recruiter I don't get an answer. Does it usually take a while to get into one of these programs? If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Is Roehl trucking companies school hard to get into?

I'm looking to get into trucking once I turn 21 in 5 months but I don't have money for a regular trucking school. I've been researching and I like Roehls company trucking school however, I don't have a high school diploma and my work history isn't that great. Would I have any trouble getting into this program? Thanks.

How exactly hard is it to get a CDL A and become a truck driver?

I'm going to be starting CDL school soon and I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect at school. How was it for you guys at CDL school and how many times did it take you to pass the road test? I feel like I'm asking a lot of questions on here but I'm just trying to get as much information as I can. Thanks guys.

Synthroid you should be fine. Get the prescribing doctor to write a note.

Zoloft may present an issue.

Which company are you going to?

In general - Zoloft is not listed as a "banned substance" - and should be acceptable with a Doctors letter. Many companies do have drugs they just don't want their drivers on.

One user here, actually called the clinic the company used, and asked if a particular drug was OK. They said it wasn't - and he saved himself a trip to orientation and getting sent home for 30 days to get clear of the drug (can't recall what it was).

Rick

I'm interested in a lot of companies but the top 3 that I like are wadhams enterprises cause they are located just 70 miles from where I live, and gypsum express and Schneider.

I've been taking Zoloft for a few years now for mild anxiety and I take synthroid for hypothyroidism. Will I be able to get my CDL still? Thanks.

Does Schneider let their drivers take the truck home?

Chris; generally yes. However, make sure to check with your recruiter. If you're slip-seating (not always in the same truck) this may not apply.

OTR shouldn't be a problem taking your truck home.

Ok thank you I appreciate the insight.

Where do you live and if there is a truckstop nearby I would imagine you would park at the truckstop. Other possibility is delivering to a customer nearby then bobtailing home. If anything call a recruiter and ask.

I live in upstate NY and I live in the country so I would be able to park the truck right next to my house. And thanks for the answer I appreciate it.

I'm interested in becoming a driver at Schneider but the closest terminal to me is 308 miles. If I do become a driver with Schneider would they allow me to take the truck home with me? Thanks.

How do you feel about driver facing cameras?

I'm going to be going to CDL school to become a professional truck driver and my first choice of trucking companies to get on with after school has driver facing cameras. To me, that would feel like an invasion of privacy. How should I deal with that? Should I not consider this company and go to a company that doesn't have driver facing cameras? Thank you.
