Advice on Averitt *one year driving exp on December * looking to switch companies *

Rolling thunder how is the company overall? You do OTR or regional with them?

On the site says 90% no touch freight. But I think that's for box/reefer. Company flatbed coverage includes 15-states; AL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MS, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, WV. No NYC or Canada!

Here's the link to site for further info. Like I said I will call for more info.

Im coming up on my one year driving experience flatbed with Prime. However this OTR is killing me! Family and friend snd freling lonely and my passion for filming and photography took a hard hit. I see averitt has Regonal Flatbed same pay, home every werk or every two weeks. Great benefits. Average miles is what i get now. So i can see this as a s good switch!

Living In The Truck

I use my mother house as a permanent address and for my mail. She also picks me up from the shopping center where I park my truck during my down time. Do laundry and eat nice home cook meal. But my bed room is now a guest room and all my stuff are in the garage. And I love this life style, did take a while to get use to it but my truck is my new home. Prefer my truck then a motel. Unless I'm home or in diffrent city.

Solo in few days. But flatbed and online school?!

So I'm at prime doing this extra stuff that they want. Get my truck in few days. Eager to set it up and get my 39" tv in there lol. I've already started today on one thing I've been trying to get started. And hope later this year start up my first small business. Which leads me to my all important questions. I do flatbed but has anybody done online classes. I'm thinking may just aim for my Masters in Business Administration. And when I get it leave this trucking thing and go on with other projects I want to do with my life. Thanks for any input!

Puppies/Dogs on the road questions

I'm be come a solo driver in next two weeks. I've been thinking about a pet n snake just seem like to much with all the special care. So back to thinking about a dog. Been long time since I've had one but how hard is it to train a dog while in a truck? Don't wanna look back n see #1 and #2 on floor of my truck! Thinking about a Siberia husky puppy. Good way to work out as well going for a run with the pup and provide companionship. And another thing water bowl?!?! Think it would be bad ideal spilling everywhere.. and about bathing your pet?

so how did you train your pet and any compromise that have to be made for for dog? Or anything else would be useful to know as well. And yess I'm allowed to have a pet with a deposit down.

My update with Prime Inc.

Prime has been nothing but great for me. I've already got the call to come back to lease but I'm going to stay company. After we drop this load in Wash state I'm going to be routed back to Springfield to become solo.. I had the same trainer for both phases of training and he has reward me so far with an older gas (I have to updated wit new maps) a CB Radio and the big map book. He bout new gas with weather n traffic updates and CB with weather channel and new map book with bigger picture of the map. So I got lucky. And he also got me the little trucks top book and a seat organizer all as rewards for doing so well at trip playing and how to strap my loads and also don't have to spend much money when I get started on my own. It's been great I can't wait to get back and become solo. This is my first truck company and best job I've ever had!! My friends are jealous of the money I have and how I've been changing just about everything in my life. And becoming debt free as well. Best decision I ever made!!!!

Ideas About Photo Sharing

That's a great ideal!! I'm on I-90 right now in Montana snow everywhere! Taking picture with my new camera cuz my mom love the picture of my trip and the places I've been. I made to do more work since I use a Tri and not a smart phone to take my pics. But still epic ideal tho!!!!!!

Clothes for the road.....

I just have about 7 jeans 2 pair of shorts and about 25 shirts. 10 long n 15 short. I keep pair of boots and tennis shoes and I drive with flip flops on. My feet get hot n sweat so I must keep the air flowing. But I put on shows each and every time I get out the truck. Even to use the restroom. I only use my overalls (thick pair for cold days n thin for warm days) when I'm using chains since u can get dirty real fast. I also have sweat pants n shirt for the walk from the shower back to my truck. And I never get in my bunk with cloths on. I use pjs when I want to relax on my bunk and sleep. I do laundy every 3weeka so I wear my jeans twice or 3 times depends how dirty I get. And the gloves yea good to have extra and a pair just for gas. I use thinner rubber glove inside of a thicker work glove.

Driving a regular car felt kind of strange after getting off the truck.

I can't stop laughing! I remember getting into my ford explorer and just felt wrong. Riding my ass on the ground ah man I feel more comfy in a truck now

Great post I'm also a student who been thinking of becoming an O/O with Prime. My trainer is an Lease Op and we are running teams but he shows me everything. We are getting loads that are 2k even as high as 4k. Now he inform me of gas n other thing n weekly lease payments of the truck and other things. He says leasing a truck with navy federal credit union and I can cut the payments in half n put more money in my pocket. What do u guys thinks?
