When to contact trucking companies?
Hey, Patrick, you missed this one. Dave filled out this one app, it gets sent to "everybody".
Great. I was just going to ask about that. Done. Thanks!

When to contact trucking companies?
I'm starting CDL school in a few weeks and while I'm there I will be talking with a few recruiters from different trucking companies. Should I be reaching out and applying before then, or wait? I don't know if I want to commit to anything before hearing what they have to say during my schooling, but would it be smart to lay the groundwork now? Thanks

I registered last week for Central Tech in Drumright. They have such a great reputation, I can't wait to start. I didn't sign on with anyone, and I was told I'd see around 10-12 recruiters. Looking forward to reading about your experience.

I appreciate the information and the willingness to help on truckingtruth.com. I've never been behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler, but always wanted to. Now, after 25 years in another profession, I'm making my move. I'm registered for truck driver training in about 4 weeks and I'm really looking forward to it. In the meantime, I'm gathering all the info I can, and this website has been the best find yet. It's like a view from the inside and very helpful.

How many times did you, before you passed?
How long did you have to wait, after you didnt pass, to retake?
Did you take and, or pass your cdl / clp written test At your local dmv?
I only wanted to take it once so I studied and according to the guy at the DMV, I 'crushed' it. I took my test this week and studied hard for about 4 days prior. I had the study guide from the DMV and there are also practice tests you can take and good online resources like the High Road Training.

Job offer
I'm about 3 weeks out from cdl school and have been contacting different trucking companies about employment. I've spoke with several recruiters this week and this morning got a 'conditional job offer' with an interview set up for this afternoon. I'm not ready to commit yet, and I'm looking forward to talking with recruiters while I'm at school. Is this typical? Are they looking for a commitment today?
