Finding somehwere to park on home time is impossible

I don't think you'll find a WalMart, Home Depot, or any business that would let you park there for regular home time. It is a big headache. I posted an ad on craigslist and had someone call me offering a spot that I could rent. I eventually found a gated storage lot that I pay 100 bucks a month that I can leave my personal truck for the week when I'm out and park my rig when I come home on the weekends. I've talked with several company drivers who also rent spots to park.

Split log question

Came to pick up my load this morning and it's not ready. I went on duty at 830 and was on duty until 10. I was told to call them in 3 or 4 hours but it could be longer. I'm trying to get home so after I pick up I have a little over 7 hours to drive. My question is if I'm in the sleeper berth for 8 hours will I get my clock back minus the 90 minutes I was on duty?

Anyone pay for CDL to get local/regional job?

I also paid my own way and went right into a regional position. Home weekly. Depending on your school, you'll talk to at least a few companies that will hire you right out of school. I probably saw 6-8 or more before I got through.

Truck gps timing vs phone gps

I've noticed my google map gps takes the speed limit into consideration and makes my trips shorter. My Rand McNally has an adjustment and is much more accurate on the eta. I sometimes use both since my google maps has real time slow downs for accidents and will re route me. Neither one is 100% reliable.

TND 740

My TND 730 has the same issue. I already sent it back and they replaced the battery and when I got it back it still has the same issue. I wonder if that charger will work for a gps since he was using the tablet? I'd buy one in a second if I could find one.

Got my CDL. Off to orientation

Yes, Darrell was the recruiter I talked with. I called him this week with a few questions, and understand he's going back on the road. I've heard many good things about McElroy and I'm really looking forward to getting started. I forgot to ask about the trucks, do they have APU'S? I know some companies let you idle.

Got my CDL. Off to orientation

I'm finishing up my CDL training, passed my test this week and have been researching several (or many) companies. Just when I thought I knew where I wanted to go, a recruiter stopped by from McElroy and changed my mind. They really seem to have checked all the boxes for me, and I'll be heading to orientation in a little over a week. I hadn't considered flat bed at all, but I'm hopeful it's a good place to land. This site has been an invaluable resource for me from day 1.

What is expected as of 2017 (or within the last 2yrs) from a NEW Hire working at TMC?

Here's a link to their review If I wanted to run flatbed, I certainly would consider them.

Job offer

The most unique of them is driving equipment show to show for country music concerts. My wife would kill me, otherwise I would jump on it. Hauling around the equipment for country music stars such as Brantley Gilbert. Oh well.....

I'd pick driving the tour bus over the equipment haulers. You'd get enough stories for a lifetime.

Job offer

Thank you. The interview was only about 10 minutes and she told me there was no pressure, that she would be checking in with me from time to time and that I would have a job with them when I was finished with school if I wanted. Honestly, they are at the top of my list anyway, but I still want to kick a few tires.
