Student in a private CDL school

I talked to a field recruiter at school yesterday with Werner yesterday at my school. I told him my recruiter on the phone I thought basically told me without saying it that I don’t have a chance because I refused a breathalyzer in 06. I told him Werner was my top pick and I really was down about not getting a chance to prove myself to them.

I just got a call from a recruiter and was offered OTR at .66 cents a mile and after 6 months I could switch to a dedicated Family Dollar account or Dollar General account in the Midwest and be home every weekend.

I still have Pre-hires though Swift, PTL, Schneider, USA Truck, and US Express. I think I’m going to go to Werner’s orientation. I really like what they have to say.

What Does It Take To Be The Best?

I would also say bring patient.

People at my CDL school get really mad and start cussing and ramming the shifter like they are trying to break it on the backing skills.

I’ve learned if your frustrated with yourself even trying to learn it’s not going to help cussing and getting all emotional. What are you going to do at a customer? Or working in general? Get heated and hit something?

I take it as I’m learning. Learn from what went wrong and try to take what I did wrong and translate it to my next try.

I’ve been backing slow as possible. I was told I’m a “half a mile an hour guy backing up”. You know what though? I get it where I want it to go every time. I drive the vehicle I do not get it ****ed off and let it drive me.

I passed my Pre-trip inspection at the DMV today! I knew I would but I was so nervous I could hardly talk! I did great though.

On the air brakes he skipped the Static test completely. When I got done with the rest of them the tester says, ( in a weird kinda mean tone) “ Ok, just get out of the truck”.

My heart sank into my stomach. I thought he had just failed me. I couldn’t figure out why. Then I followed him in and he gave me a sheet saying I passed!

At this point I have 10 hours left on my 20 hours of backing skills section of my program. I’m already good enough to get through 2 different trucks to get to the backing exam truck. I also have about 9 hours left on my 20 of road driving. They give us 2 extra hours that will be solely driving the test route.

I am very confident I will test out and have my CDL May 19th!

Weed and a CDL

If your not driving for a company or a v there is no reason you would ever be drug tested. Just make sure your hairs clean and also your urine if you ever want to get a commercial driving job again.

Weed and a CDL

I had to do a drug test with my med card, but I am going to a private school and we had to pass a drug test to be admitted. It was just killing 2 birds with one stone. They put a test strip in it and it showed I had blood in my urine. Like it wasn’t noticble to the naked eye but detectable. Kinda concerned me.

Much Ado About Nothing...

I’m still in CDL school but I have 6 pre-hire letters. I am still working on more. I am doing this in case an orientation doesn’t work out, I have plenty of options for others. Always good to have a back up plan.

Background checks

G-Town

I have Pre-hires through Swift, US Express, And USA Truck. Maverick will give me one ass soon as I verify an unemployment period. I was just more curious if Werner would let me go to an Orientation. I filled out a Schneider app today.

I know I’ll be able to find work. I just want to get as many pre-hires as I can so I have plenty of options.

Background checks

I just got off the phone with Werner. They do not like the fact that I did not submit to a breathalyzer over 11 years ago when I was 20. I did not receive a DUI but my lisence was suspended for 6 months due to Zero Tolerence.

They said they will call me back my last week of CDL school with a final decision. She made it pretty clear without saying, that I won’t be able to go to an orientation because of this BAC Refusal. It is what it is.

CDL Permit Holders Getting All Endorsements?

Just to reiterate these points.

I just showed a birth certificate with an official seal and a valid Illinois Drivers Lisence and I was good to go. Name on the DL and BC must match identically.
