I’m Starting At Prime Inc Salt Lake City Tomorrow

Thank you for the calming response. I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be to make it happen!

Jordan, your concerns are commonly expressed here. But you will be fine. Prime and all the big companies have trained thousands of young people like you and know how to develop your abilities. In fact I would say you are already ahead of the curve, based on your description. When you get into the actual training, you will meet your fellow trainees and see that you are all pretty much the same, so all of you will learn together and help each other out. Just relax and enjoy the journey, but be prepared to work hard and study hard. Find someone in your class that is like minded and form a study team. Quiz each other on the pre-trip. These training programs have gotten the process down to a science. All you have to do is follow their instruction.

I’m Starting At Prime Inc Salt Lake City Tomorrow

I know this is pretty last minute being that I leave on the Greyhound bus in 1 day so please forgive me. I’m 21 years old and I made the decision a couple of months ago that I wanted to try my hand at trucking. I already have my permit and tanker endorsement. I’m worried that I’m going to get to Prime and not know enough to do well. Like not having down everything for a pre trip inspection and a brake test and so on. What if I can’t drive the truck well? I am reading the manual as much as I can to try and be ready but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s enough. Will they be teaching me onsite and be understanding that I’ve never done this before? Or will they expect me to know everything right away since I already have my permit? I am a quick learner I’m just afraid my expectations aren’t in line with Prime’s expectations of me. Any advice from people that have been through it would be greatly appreciated. I am very anxious but also very excited!

Future Trucking Career With Accident on Record

Thank you for the reply! It's good to hear that I could still potentially get on as a driver. I was just super worried about it being an automatic red flag.

Welcome Jordan. Someone will certainly hire you. You're already beyond the 3 years of safe, ticket free driving that many companies require. Some may pass on you, but I suspect most will gladly take you on. Apply to many and see who throws you an offer.

Yes, I was still on my permit. I have already passed three years of safe driving.

I rear ended someone in August of 2015. It is on my driving record as cake driving. I was still on my permit at the time. I got my license in January of 2016

Does this mean you didnt have a license when the accident happened??

Most companies want 3+ years with accident. You may have to apply to several places to find one willing to accept you.

Future Trucking Career With Accident on Record

Hello,

This is my first post. I am about to turn 21 and I've been looking into trucking as a career for a while now. My only worry is that I won't be able to find a company to take me on because of my driving record. Long story short, I rear ended someone in August of 2015. It is on my driving record as cake driving. I was still on my permit at the time. I got my license in January of 2016. That is the only conviction I have. No speeding tickets or anything like that. My record has been clean since that accident. Do you guys think that it is possible here in a few months for me to pursue a career in trucking? Would companies consider me with that on my record? I was thinking about getting my cdl through a company, and going with Swift, Prime, CR England, etc. Would these companies specifically still consider me? Thank you for your time.

Best,

Jordan.
