.... I already have some hobbies that I can do on the road.
Sounds good. I hope you'll get called up soon for training.
This afternoon I got requested to report, as a volunteer with the county EMD, starting tomorrow for 3 days of assisting with "receiving supplies". No further details yet as to what that entails.

I'm hanging. Don't really have much else to do after I clean every room in the house.
Hey, Rob, any potential interest in ham radio on your part? It could translate into handy skills down the road on eleven meters and more.

Goose’s Swift Journey into Trucking
Hey Ubergoose, welcome to Trucking Truth! Awesome that you'll do a Swift diary. All that detail in your first post is great. And that light-hearted attitude is a good tonic, right about now..... Wishing you the best in this new chapter of your driving life!

What does a quarantine due to coronavirus mean for truckers?
When I was a kid I rode around with my 2 brothers in the back seat of my parents' Ford while they smoked up a storm with the windows tightly shut.
There is thought to be a correlation to the asthmatic history I had while living in that household.
So, with that in mind, I wondering about the idea regarding where rights of one begin and end vs. another.
On another note: it's very easy to criticize (lots of interesting and thoughtful criticism in multiple threads here, last few days). How about solutions or alternatives along with dissection of what's wrong?
I know these are simplistic, classic, maybe cliche type ponderings on my part but I'm left unsatisfied with some of what I read due to these fundamental deficits.
Directing this broadly, to be clear, not to any particular post or poster here.

Yes, every so often the public is reminded of the importance of truckers and they give us a different finger than they normally would.

To Wesley, our OP, wishing you the best in navigating conditions to get to driver training. I'm several months behind your concrete steps but keeping my planning fluid at this point. I join with you as well with appreciation of our hard-toiling trucking community. Your expression was eloquent!
This social experiment is crazy, but truck drivers may have a few short weeks where they are appreciated appropriately. Take it while you can, it will be as short lived as this moment of national panic.
Old School, me senses a bumper-sticker opp for some entrepreneur out there!

I'm happy and relieved to know I may have a few more years left in me to keep chasing that white line.
So good to know you feel that way and that spirit is contagious!
