It’s not the company. I love to drive have been doing it my hole life just not cdl . I am not a 22 year old just learning his way around. I have logged over 600k none cdl in both straight truck and hot shots have made my share of mistakes along the way and will make a lot more sorry I came across like I was whining. 50k with him is just a bump in the road I guess.. FYI he told me today when I asked him about how often he showers. That he has lost his last three students do to this but hopes I will ride it out with him because I run hard and problem solve on my own. P.s I don’t think I am a that great at this yet but far from a streering wheel holder I have bumped e Rey dock we dropped at and do all my own city driving .

So I have made it to the the phase of my training and I feel I am trying hard on my shifts the first 8 days I have a average of 598 miles a shift with wait time at shippers. My trainer is teaching me stuff but he does not shower or change his clothes he has taken 1 shower and changed once sense we headed out he even sleeps in the same clothes. I have no problem with hard work or night or day driving we put down 7200 miles so far and I think he is milking his drive shifts. Is it wrong to ask for a new trainer. I don’t like to give up on things it’s only been 8 days with him

Best companies for new drivers
I am still new to the industry but threw my research. I found most new drivers and drivers in general go home about once every 3 to 4 weeks on the road. With that said you need to really look at what you are getting into.after some time you maybe able to get on a dedicated route with more home time. This is a commitment to you and your family. With guys try to claw there way to be a top fleet go to guy. That’s how you get the great routes and runs. I would go threw a in house training program and sign the contract. So you and the the company have skin in the game and you get your experience in. I went to Prime and so far loving it. They are very good at what they do. You will get great training there but must be very open and truthful with them one lie and you will go home. Talk to your wife and kids and make sure you guys are all on board for the long haul at least one year then maybe you can find a good local job. But going to a local school and trying to find a job that is a perfect fit maybe a rough road to go down. Hope you the have the best of luck in your new adventure. Where ever and how ever you my go .

Ok First off trucking is no place for drugs but based on research I did on this. This may be true if his wife was snorting it and he was kissing her the drip from the sinus down the the throat would have cocaine in it but you would have to be kissing her a whole lot to pop on a test . If she was clean for 8 mouths then there should not be a problem. Cocaine should be out of a user system in one to two mouths after last use so for you should have been one to weeks sorry it just does not add up. Best of luck to you and Ps if someone in your life is a user don’t kiss them it’s your job and life in your hands

Day one the road I drove 356 miles and my trainer drove 265. The right seat is boring. Would rather be the driving but being the new guy I get it . I had to run threw rain , construction, traffic jams , and holiday traffic. My trainer said I did great and he was very happy with me. Very happy with day one hopefully I can log more miles today then yesterday.

Well made it threw the first week at prime. A lot of computer based training some simulation drives and test. This week a lot of pad time and local drives with in house trainers . Now on the road tomorrow to head out for a few days They are telling me I will be testing Monday for my cdl. Has been a great place to be . Anyone coming here be prepared put in hard work keep your brain on the prize it will pay off you get what you put in. I have guys that started with me and are still at the yard struggling. I study a lot get up and get to the terminal as early as I can get there on the pad working with trainers all day and when they have other stuff to do I stand off to the side and watch other people trying to get as much out of this as I can. Can’t wait to see where this journey goes from here.

Tell me about being an electrician and / or truck driver
Richard I can tell you from some one that has worked in the field as a electrician. The good ones are in high demand. It is very tough on the body bad knees and shoulders are common. The average starting guy is about $13-$16 dollars a hour The work has it highs and lows. You will work 40-50 hour weeks plus two to three knights of school for the next 4 years then test out for your journey men’s . Money will then move to $17-$21 a hour. Then two more years of night school to get your masters. Then pay will be $24-$29 a hour depending on the company. My last job in the industry I ran a small 10 man shop for a guy my highest payed guy was 100k a year and he worked 65-70 hours a week he loved his ot. The work will have its very busy times and not so busy times. The average age of a licensed electrician in the us is 54-58 there is a lot of room for new guys. But like any job you get out what you put in. This the best insight I can give trucking is new to me but so far I love it . Best of luck in your new adventure

Ok just got to Pennsylvania at the hotel they gave me my application to hand write in. No problem I have nothing to hide but they are asking if I have a copy of the FMCSA hand book in my possession. My bad was not on my check list and did not get one. Can I get one at the company store or what should I do. I don’t like not being prepared. I try my best to be a over achiever and this is not like me I feel like a a## .

Finding a school to retrain/advice
I hope you can find something. Prime will pay you $200.00 a week after first week till you test out. It’s a cash advance. Then you will get $700.00 a week doing the TNT training witch is 50k team miles with a trainer. You must be available for loads on the truck at that point . Week 1 orientation Week 2 starts PSD if you get all cleared and threw week 1. Here you will get a training to pass you cdl . After that is when you start TNT . Hope this helps overall I love it here at Prime a few bumps in the road but working threw them is part of life. Best of luck to you.
