Week 2 is now finished we finished the week off with alot of in town driving focusing on the busy sections of downtown during rush hour and of course working on our turns we are supposed to have a minimum of 10 hours driving by the time we test out and with the 1 on 1 ratio we already have over that with another week to go still next week we are supposed to be heading over the mountains to get some experience on that before we test out the first week of december

Okay new week new adventures started backing monday started off with straight line then moved to offset then to parallel went good I'm not the best but with only 2 of us in class now we gets lots of practice on tuesday we did 90 and so far that was a good one did well on it then they decided since we was doing so well on the rest of it they decided to teach us the 45 not so good there got a lot of learning to do on that one today we are going out on the road for the first time and with only 2 of us and 2 instructors that means we dont have to switch out at all so we will get in lots of driving practice so far all is going great at swift academy in utah

Day 4

Watched some videos went over trip planning and that was about it

Day 5

My two classmates went down to the dmv to test for their permit I already had mine so it was just me at that time went down to the range and talked with the students that were Bout to test out and was able to watch the backing maneuvers and learned a few tricks to help out when I get there starting monday also signed our school contracts on that day so far so good but next week starts the driving part

Day three in the books took the hours of service test today it was a fairly simple test got all 49 right aent over the Utah cdl book a little bit for the 2 other guys in my class since they dont have their permit yet tomorrow we start trip planning then friday while the other 2 guys are at the dmv getting their permit I get to go out and learn about chains so far it's not too bad very informative

It's been a few days since I last put something on here but to update

I started my swift training monday it was a little different than expected we started off with 6 guys in class by our first break we was down to 5 the first day was going over rules and discussing hours of service on the second day Tuesday we had 2 guys not show up for class so now we are down to 3 we watched videos and learned a little about pre trip inspection we did our drug test and had a new physical done even if u already had one it's just basic stuff right now the other 2 guys dont have their permit yet so its alot of getting them ready to go to the dmv on friday I'm not sure what I get to do that day since I already have mine

I'm starting monday with swift cdl training I leave on the big grey dog saturday morning for a long 36 hour hour bus ride it will be a lot different from my previous job as a railroad conductor but training is a lot shorter I'll try to keep a brief description of my training here lll try to update daily if I can

I'm headed to west valley Utah I've got a little experience through my army career in the national gaurd and ita coming to an end after 23 years so I figured since I got furloughed from union pacific it was time for a change and driving seemed like a good fit
