Ghetto shut down locations

Worst one Ive seen, a hazmat truck shut it down late at night on a dark curving on ramp near Santa Fe, he didn't follow hazmat rules and was right on the white line. A guy came by accelerating onto the freeway in a Toyota Tacoma and ended up clipping the truck and getting pulled under it and impacting the rear of the tractor under the trailer. Totaled a nice Toyota and the truck driver was ticketed because he was haz mat and stopped less than 5 feet from a roadway, otherwise it would have been the Toyotas fault for hitting him, the driver was injured but was treated and released.

Mack Trucks

You can put a mack truck hood ornament on any truck if thats why you want a mack. They are mostlky found as said in construction and concrete and waste collection and such. Personally I hated all 5 of our mack trucks, they were beat to hell, had a really stiff ride and were not ergonomic for th the driver, me. I seem to prefer Kenworth the best I'm 6' 240lbs and I just seem to like them better, comfort, ride, my ISX's `550hp, etc.

Leasing a truck a requirement for employment as a driver ?

I am considering truck driver training / CDL school and was told by a former driver that a lot of companies will require their drivers to pay for or lease the truck they are driving . I was wondering if this is true and if so, when would it be disclosed ?

What company specifically told you this? oh its word of mouth.....don't believe it until you actually talk to the company.

Changing gears

I like to use the 10 speed bicycle as a learning example, higher the gear the faster you go, low gear you pedal fast but dont move very fast, high gear you pedal slower but move faster. You want to think gear+rpms=mph. If you assume a constant RPM, then only the changing of the gears matters in relation to forward speed.

I hate my company.

You could take it somewhere and have the oil and filters changed and tell him to reimburse you.

Idk if thats a done thing but if you could do that, it'd buy you some more time on tthe road...

I would never do that, they would be under no obligation to repay me.

I hate my company.

I worked for a small outfit until recently. And had the sane sort of maintenance issues. Heres what I did, I started refusing to drive the illegal truck. I would tell them about the problems, and give them time to act, when they didnt I refused to drive the truck as it didnt pass a ore trip. this resulted in them fixing the truck. It happened several times and I had to endure grief from other drivers there as being a whiner. Issue I had were illegal cracked windshield, expired registration, too old of tires, bald tires, burned out headlight, no left front turn signal. I helped do the repairs I could b ut they had to buy the parts and pay me hourly. At some point i just got fed up with their lack of concern for my CDL. This owner also never changed motor oil or air filters in the 70,000 miles I drove the truck. They didnt fix leaks so you go leaking oil everywhere. It wasnt for me so I started refusing to drive the illegal trucks, and eventually found the situation intolerable so turned in my 2 weeks notice.
