You can start out in whatever gear works without slipping the clutch, especially when empty.

Trucker diet need help

Its the same old thing you always hear but never do, diet and exercise. Control your diet and exercise. eat fruits and vegetables, limit meat serving to the size of a deck of playing cards. Dont add extra butter or sour cream. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise so dont think you can exercise your way to weight loss. Use a dash of lime juice in your water, get a fridge or cooler. Stop making excuses.

Hazmat Dilemma

I showed up at GA DDS bright & early today. First I was told that I couldn't take Hazmat cause I just have a CDL permit. She asked her supervisor who told her how to "trick the computer system" so I could test. That's what I'm talking about.

Took the test & passed it!!! It won't show up on my CDL till i (hopefully) get a permanent one. I also won't pay the testing fee till then. Don't know how other states are, but In GA you keep a paper CDL permit till u pass the driving test.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. My questions have only just begun. I start trucking school Mon.

My next stop is $1 short stack pancakes from IHOP for St. Patrick's Day. Just have to wear green

Take care everyone.

Karen

In other words they decided to do their job. You can most definitely get all the endorsements including hazmat with a learners permit. Its stays on file until you get your CDL. Otherwise what are you supposed to do? Get your cdl and then go back for another cdl with the endorsements? Sadly most DMV employees are illiterate on the rules of hazmat, but just do what you did, be polite, be firm, ask for a supervisor etc.

Ghetto shut down locations

That's why I have a CCW permit. I'm not out looking to go shoot someone for the hell of it, but I will defend myself or die trying. It's a shame that some shippers/receivers know they are in an area where drivers have been robbed or killed, and they will still turn you away to fend for yourself.

You do know your CCW permit does not cover every state right? Depending on what state you obtained it in, you can't legally carry in about half the States.

Relocated to Kansas City, any info on local?

I've had to relocate to Kansas City to take care of my elderly mother, and so once again I begin the job hunt. Anyone have info on good local companies here? I've got a couple leads already with fedex, groen**** and a mail contractor, but anyone with some insight or rec commendations for a good local company would be much appreciated. I need to be home nightly to take care of mom. Thanks

Phil!
