Mistake on Swift application.

Turtle,

Thanks for the reply, OUCH, that hurt. Well said. However, i was under the imppression, that Trucking companies would work with you. Even if you did have problems. I know im not perfect, i dont try to hide it. Im real and honest. Some people pick up things and know it all from the begining. I admit i am slow and learning. So in the future, would Swift kick me to the curb over a minor mistake, because they have a ton of perfect drivers, and dont have the time or patience for someone like me? Thats good to know about a company, yes? Is everyone like that at Swift?

So Turtle, i dont think Swift is done with me. I do think that recruiter at Swift is done with me. I am sure of that.

I am trying to clean up my HONEST MISTAKE, and seeking some input about that, not here to bash or put down. I definately dont want to fall into the category of someone who made an Honest mistake, as oppossed to someone trying to lie, game the system and. Deceive. If i had 2 DUI's, i can still work, i have no issue with telling truth....i dont need to lie.

Jesus forgives me, im at peace with that. I can understand why a Trucking company couldnt. No judgement on my part.

So im still seeking input as if i should attempt to clean up what was an honest mistake at Swift, will it follow me around? I realize i could move on, many posts on that subject. Yet it is a simple honest mistake, why not meet it head on, and work it out?

Not only that, i did think that others might learn from the experience, and come here off a web search, which would give Trucker Truth some clickbait, and higher rankings.

Hopefully this world has not gone too far to crap that everyones is so unmerciful and unforgiving that they arent willing to work with an honest mistake.........otherwise, im screwed......lol......

Mistake on Swift application.

Ok, so quick update. 2 of the 3, reporting agencies, that report background and dmv to Swift have called back. They cant find me in their system. Or i should say, Swift has not accessed information about me, through them , lately.

Meaning, even though they processed my application, assigned me a recruiter, sent me a couple emails. That the Recruiter didnt have any info on me before the interview. That i simply disqualified myself, by saying 2 Dui's. So this supports my theory of an overworked, Recruiter, who wasnt willing to go the extra mile with me, because, so much other easy money out there she doesnt have to work hard for .

So i may decide to approach another Recruiter at Swift, tell them i honestly only had 1 DUI i can recollect. Or, this is where i need input, should i say 1 DUI, that i can recollect and try to explain my encounter with Swift?.....i dont know why i said two Dui's, cant remember 2, would say two if i remembered. Yet if i say 1 and i really had 2......would that be lying?........at this point i know i can get hired with 2, but why say 2 i only have 1 in my recollection, dont understand why i said two.......

But wait, we are waiting on the third reporting agency

Mike D

Yes, thanks for the encouragement. Ive got myself in a pickle. Do i tell the propective companies, 1 or 2 DUI's? I dont know why i said 2, i cannot remember 2. If i could remember 2, id just move on to those who would accept two....you see?

So now does a cognitive memory Lapse disqualify me, or look bad to a prospective company?

Of course like the office of the President, now cognitive disabilty should be a disqualifier. .lol.....hopefully my cognitive disability from 1980's isnt so bad i forget how to shift gears.

I could just tell prospective employers, i cant remember if i had one or two DUI's.......but i suspect that wont go well?.....thoughts, opinions?

TIA

Mistake on Swift application.

So i am waiting on background and DMV reports provided to Swift, they are free. I spoke with one of the Ladies at the Reporting place, while ordering the report. She said she has seen stuff from the 90's pop up, but 1984, she was like, hello, i havent seen anything...was skeptical if they could even get all that info. Not that im trying to be dishonest, or game the system. Hopefully no identity theft happened . Im just trying to make a point about my overall feel, and gut feeling, that it was just an overworked Recruiter/Youngster, who wants the gravy pay and easy money.....that this whole thing is a nothing burger. I dont know why i said, i had 1 suspension, when i had 4 in 1980's, i dont know why i said 2 Dui's, when i had 1.......i cannot for the life of me even remember 2......lol

Mistake on Swift application.

I have two felony convictions from over 20 years ago, one for two DWIs' within a year. Since then no problems, clean driving record, employed since 1992. Prime/Wilson/CRST/Millis were all available to me. I was honest and upfront and disn't try to hide anything. There's plenty of companies that should give you a shot if that's the extent of your past trouble.

Hi,

Been reading the forums last couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone for thoughts, ive gleaned a lot.

I sent of a application to Swift, even before i talked to a recruiter. I think i learned, i need to talk to recruiter first. I was assigned a recruiter, and was asked to call their number to speed up process, dont think it helped, but, they did get back to me barely before 48 hrs was up. Some quick facts, i have no dui's, dwi, for last 25 years. No moving viokation in 7 yrs, 2 accidents in 5, not my fault, no ticket, verifiable 30 yr self employed, excellent references , no medical issues . So i look good on paper i think.

Soooo, the recruiter called me on my cell, just as i was entering the road with my car, i pulled over, and she started asking me, any moving viokations, i answered, a couple more questions, i answered , then was asked any suspensions? Yes, in 1982, but apparently, on the application i said no, when i went to look at application later, i realized my rookie mistake of rushing through application, not reading carefully. Then, was asked any Dui,dwi, yes, i said 2 1984. Recruiter quickly replied, oh we do not hire anyone with 2 at all, and started wrapping up the call, im completely dumbfounded here, call ends.

Then, i remembered from 1984 i didnt have 2 dui, what happened, i originally got it deffered , but was viokated because i crossed state lines, so had 2 distinct court sessions over it, with jail time by Violation.

Sooo after realizing i mispoke, and i put no on the suspension , i tried, by email, and voicemail to get it cleaned up with the recruiter. 1 voicemail, 2 emails , 48 hrs still no reply from swift recruiter.

Soooo, im thinking, im going to call into swift, to a different Recruiter, and mention, my application, and bonehead, rookie mistake, sheeesh, ive been self employed 40 years, swift was first application in 40 years, cut me slack. Ok,?

Sooo any advice?comment, insight? That would be helpful?

Can i redo my application, or do i have to wait? Yes i was super super sweet to the young lady recruiter, and tried to butter her up, and plead mercy.

Not trying to game the system honest mistake

TIA, appreciated

Thanks for the info and encouragement. I am feeling good about prospects. I am Just concerned about how my mistake on the swift application, and the verbal with the recruiter, is going to affect, the other potential hires/companies. So im trying to get that cleaned up so no problems down the road. I am being pro active, ive just ordered my FREE reports, from my background, and DMV 's, that were given to Swift initially , i too have a felony from 1979.....Swift didnt ask about that I was a rebel bad boy in my younger years, its come back to haunt me again.....lol......Itry to keep my inner bad boy on lockdown nowadays, but he still comes out....lol.

Thanks for the encouragement and tge list.

You can try another recruiter, but they usually work on commission and will.lass you to the original. Because they work on commission they often try their best to get you approved.

Good luck

No i get that. However, not to complain, but the Young gal, was a lil ****y when i called, she didnt know me by name, i caught her on her cell in mid conversation with someone else , but she did quickly find my application and said oh yeah we have your application here. She completely changed her tone of voice and Demeanor .

Just to recap, i made a mistake on my Application, i said no when i shouldve said yes, on suspensions. Then i made a mistake on my voice answer 2 Dui. At that point, she ended the conversation, and the hire. So maybe in her mind, im not worth the effort?

Im not sure why they would call me back if had 2 dui's to trick me about lying? Maybe, could be. Or maybe with my mistake on tHe APP, subsequent misspeak on Dui. Then, me sending 2 emails,1 voicemail to clean it up, it wasnt worth her time and effort to figure if i was lying or not, and help me get it cleaned up. She was so busy anyway, i wasnt a gravy hire at that point. I had one DUI. Ok.....what kind of company calls someone with 2 DUI's to play games with them to see if they will lie, if they arent going to hire them anyways?

See my point?

Many companies will not accept ANY dues at all regardless of time frame. Many limit the number allowed. This is something you need to know and accept.

Swift is not the only company so apply everywhere and see who bites but understand you need to be clear. They will find tickets from the 1980s now just to see if you will lie about it.

Apply For Truck Driving Jobs

Yes, i have reread the FREE CDL Training section here at Truckers truth several times, They have over a dozen companies profiled. With info about who does and doesnt accept DUI's. I understand this. So i appreciate all the info and replies on here, ive gained a wealth of info and knowledge.

You hit the nail on the head, there are other companies out there ,I had just set my sights on Swift, and thought, i could easily get to school through them. Rookie mistake. Hey though, ive learned, and am preparing now to apply at a bunch of Companies for training school, then research those, if i get any hits .

One thing i was doing was going to the DMV, at the state i had the DUI. Getting an Absract of my 2 year driving record with them. Its "usually easy" online However, i need my D L number from that state from 1984, which i dont have. I spent 45 minutes on Que, to their hotline, (blame covid 19) to speak with a specialist. So they used my SS#,and D.O.B.,to look for records on me, now granted, they cannot give me any info off the license, like my DL#, they can give me records of my history with Social, and D O.B., and correct name.......guess what, no records.....Not even 1 DUI. I am trying to go to a college i attnded in that state and see if i used my DL#, on that application , otherwise, i cant order a history without it. So i dont know if i cant get correct history, how can Swift?

So they have to take my word, i had two DUI's?? At this point i want to clean up my Swift application, so it doesnt haunt me, down the road . So im trying to see if i can get my Swift application ammened? Or what did the recruiter do or note, in not hiring me, im not afraid of honesty, or the truth , i am a big boy, i can handle consequence to myy actions from 1984.

Its actually good that i have to go through this, that way i can get my head properly into the game.Be prepared for the next interviews. Thanks for the encouragement. One mans trash, is anothers treasure

Seems like you are not sure about your DWIs. Many companies post their requirements online. Here is CFI's.

Get your facts straight first. Read applications carefully. Good luck.

Big Scott, yeah i hear ya, Swift says no DUI'S 5 YEARS,nowhere can you find where they say, no more than 2 dui's lifetime, unless it is 2 on a CDL, then you are banned. So i wasnt prepared for an interview, on the subject. Now i know.

Moving forward, im interested on thoughts about going through a different Recruiter at Swift, Amending my application at Swift. Or any thoughts about continuing to try to apply at swift, in light of my mistake

Right now, im working to get the reports Swift used, on Background, DMV , they are supposed to be free from Tenstreet, and Carco, but im already experiencing problems

Just to be clear, 1 DUI...😁thanks though.
