Newbie and CB Radio

Once I found out I was getting off of my trainer's truck we stopped and he gave me $300 towards a GPS, got me a headset, and in that same stop I picked up a Uniden Bearcat 980SSB. I may not talk on it my much, but I have it turned on and turned up while I'm driving.

As they may not be AS popular as they once were, they are still vital in the ability of getting up-to-the-minute information from those in your area. If there is a conversation going on I don't want to listen to I'll turn down the volume or try to squelch them out if I can.

All in all, I feel it is one of those needed things to have. Another tool in your toolbox as a driver.

Opponents voice concerns about Amazon's Driveri surveillance system

It's crazy that dash cams have gotten to this point. I do know we use DriverI in our trucks and I know some of the things the article is saying should trigger it but hasn't in my truck. So I'm wondering if they just have ours customized to not trigger off of every little thing. I have sat and spoken to our safety guys and from the conversation ours does give quite a bit of false positives. I was asking them how many times they get videos of drivers picking their noses(listen, I was strangely curious) and was told that more commonly they get false positive triggers of the camera thinking the driver is holding a phone to their ear, like picking their nose with their pinky and thumb at the ear, or talking on a headset and resting their head on their hand against the window.

I will say ours don't actually SAY anything. Mine just makes a ding noise when it alerts and I just wave at it. Ours also turn off if the engine is turned off and only triggers of the truck gets hit with a hard enough jolt of force.

I have seen some of the videos that were sent in and I will say, it is SUPER clear about what's going on around as a driver. It can tell how far away the vehicles are around and how far of a stopping distance you are from vehicles in front of you.

Dutch Maid out of Willard, Ohio. Anne directed me to them.

Super happy with the company.

And congrats from ME, as well, Optical~!! I'm glad you are happy! Quite a family group over there, they are...yet big enough to be TCO.

My other half is on his way 'over yonder' right now, with boxes for Pepperidge Farms, next door. YOU THERE atm?!?!?

I'm down in Columbus with my first solo load. Getting unloaded tomorrow then home time until Sunday afternoon.

Got upgraded!

So, I finished up with my on-the-road trainer on Sunday. Got into a temporary truck on the yard and stayed in that while getting tested to go solo. Got MY truck on Tuesday, and officially soloed out yesterday. Got all of my stuff moved into my truck and am now waiting on a load to take home for a couple days of home time.

So, it's official...I've been upgraded to my own truck and am on my 90day starting probation.

Super excited!

Best backing videos on YouTube?

double-quotes-start.png

I know the one that really helped me....now granted I'm still not THAT great...but the SWIFT one was really good with showing reference points.

I do agree that nothing will do better than figuring out your own little way. There is the basic overall techniques but building your own muscle memory will ultimately be the best.

Sure would be GREAT to UPDATE !!!

(Overall ... i mean ?!?!?)

~ anne ~

Nothing to update just yet. Lol...still out with my trainer right now. Though...plan is to be back at the yard for my upgrade evaluation Monday. So...once that happens I'll throw a post up. Haha. rofl-2.gif
