Decided on Pride (hopefully) and private CDL school

Vicki I will let you know. The course in Kingman is 4 weeks long if you don't already have your permit $ 4,495.00 3 weeks long if you show up with your permit already $ 3,895.00 Save $600 to get your permit on your own. I live in Lake Havasu so Kingman is close so I like that. If I choose Vegas I would take my RV and stay in that.. Win Win either way

Decided on Pride (hopefully) and private CDL school

SWTDT in North Las Vegas is my 2nd choice for private school (waiting to hear back from Jessica, office closed this week for remodeling) The first for me is Phoenix Truck School in Kingman, AZ. Will be touring both places in the next 10 days to make a final decision. Feedback is welcome !!

I think 9-5. And I paid 5500 for manual. It’s 4995 for auto

I’m on my 4 th day at southwest truck driving school in Vegas. 2 weeks class and 3 weeks driving ant range (5weeks because I’m in night class).

I have called them a couple of times with questions. Funny thing, the price changed by $1000 in a day. I haven't called the other school yet, just read their website. The price changing thing kind of threw me for a loop...what time are their daytime classes? I work nights so I need to figure out what kind of schedule I need to make it work. I would call and ask, but the price might go up another $1k lol

Applying to Multiple Company Paid CDL Programs

If a prospect sends out multiple applications and gets an invitation to attend orientation from multiple companies, does it look bad or in any way affect the prospects standing with the company if they do not follow up or accept the invite?

For example: If I apply to Swift, Prime, Wilson and all 3 invite me to attend orientation, how do I handle responding to the other 2 that I have decided not to attend?

Advice for a GPS.

Kearsey, my bad. I thought the question was asking for a recommendation for which gps unit people are using, not about the accuracy of a particular app or if a gps alone was trustworthy..

Advice for a GPS.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab E8 16gb T377A, check it our on amazon for around $125 +\-. Way cheaper than a Garmin or Lowrance. It is durable and has a nice big 8" Screen. It does not need to be connected to wifi for the gps to work. Check it out at amazon for around $100 +/- . Then use whatever map app you want. I like GAIA for offroad and google maps for on road. For my offroad prerunner I use the Samsung Galaxy Active 2..

One on One CDL Training School in Arizona

I second everything old school an kearsey are giving you freely friend.. I went to Pheonix truck driving school you’ll get your license and be out the door in 3 weeks then you’ll go somewhere to drive with a trainer pretty much team driving then you’ll get your rig and start running trying to figure out how to do your books right plan your trip being on time how to back into some crazy docks just a lot of stuff I can’t tell you how much more there is to know than just driving I wish I would have went another rout everyone on here will shoot straight with you good luck

Are you saying that you wish you did not go to Phoenix School and instead went directly to a Company Paid School ? Because I am considering going to Phoenix getting my CDL and then going on to training with a company. I did watch Kearsey's video where she does not recommend going that route but thinks going directly with Prime from the start is a better option. Thanks

Thank You Rick S. and OS... You guys know what you are talking about and I am taking your sage advise!! I'm not stupid. That's why I came to this forum. To be told what "I didn't want to hear" not what I wanted to hear... I'm glad I heard the truth.

Thank You for taking the time to respond with the detail that you did... I get it !!

Go watch my Youtube channel where I compare lease Op settlements to my pay and break it down. As a company driver I make more than them and take more time off.

If you dont want to run hard... Forget being an OO. There are ways of managing your clock to get extra down time. Home time flexibility may be a little different.

Roehl is the one that has the most flexibility but it depends on your location and their routes.

Thanks for the video. I think I will change my course. Gonna start looking into companies that are a good fit for me..

Are there Company Driver positions out there that allow flexibility with scheduling ? I'm not 25 years old anymore, I don't want to bust butt like I did when I was 30 to build a company. I'm not worried about making 70k a year if it means my life is fixed to pounding out 11 hours and 700 miles a day. Is that what is expected of a Rookie Company Driver? What are the typical expectations from a new driver with a big company?
