I will second that wow on over 200 students. It is going to be a mad house for sure.

I too have a few things to get a few things and have Google Earthed the inn. Walmart is about 4 or so blocks south. Should pass is on the way from the bus station.

Truck Driving institute of Tupelo

Just a thought here what about hinds cc. KLLM has a thing with them where it is free. Dunno if you had another company in mind or not but imo KLLM is a solid company just from my dealings with them through Empire.

Please keep the updates coming. Take plenty of food with you on the grey dog...the only places they stop you'll be paying $2 for a can of pop and $8 for a sandwich. How long was it between the time you were first contacted by recruiter and the time you got your bus ticket? I'm still waiting on some documentation to arrive. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice on the dog. I have never tanken a trip on a bus. As far as how long was a little different for me. I applied end of October and got accepted early November but due to the holidays I am just now getting in for the coming week. Grace was amazing on that front. One thin I can tell you is keep in contact with your recuiter emails phone calls etc. Let them know you are serious about your choice. Be persistent and keep in mind that it is their job is to get you in there so they are trying.

I will also be there afternoon of the 4th. It will be jeans and polos for me that's about as close to a dress/collared shirt I have. Also for those who will be there if you guys want to get together for dinner on the 4th would be awesome. Like some one said we are in this together figure can help each other out.

How Soon Is Too Soon To Talk To A Recruiter?

I would think that now would be a good time to get that ball rolling so to speak. I don't think it would hurt to talk a recuiter now since it is pretty much their job to get you in a seat, and they can give you more advice since you do plan on relocating yourself. It may even help plan the coming months for your move as well. Besides it can't hurt anything just by talking with them.

Prefer to drive a truck locally for oil field. Is school the only way?

Hi Kent R. My thoughts are this, and maybe they can help you. Would 1 year of otr be completely out of the question? The reason I ask is that we'll it's free through most company sponsored schools. However if you are not willing to go that route. I would say put in a little leg work by contacting your local schools and see what types of tuition assistance they have or know of. Contact the companies that you are looking to drive for and see if they have any type of tuition reimbursements or grants. I know this type of funding is there you just have to find it.

Jerks at truck stops

I agree with the lot here. One of the first things my mother taught me when I was first learning to drive a car. Never let anyone dictate how you drive. Words I have lived by when I am driving to this day some 18 years later. I know I will probably get to exprince this first hand fairly soon. So i am looking forward to this smile.gifembarrassed.gif
