Honestly it is always a good time in my opinion. Freight has to be moved and trucks have to roll. True some segments may have a little slowdown at the moment but that won't last forever. C'mon back.

When did WalMart start flatbed?

I have seen a few of the Walmart flatbeds as well. Kind of like the unicorn fleet at Walmart like us tankers back when I was with Prime. I still find the Walmart flatbeds kind of weird. Weird but cool.

New Grad: decision - prime or covenant ?

If I am not mistaken I do believe Covenant is a team only operation now. At least that is what their website leads me to believe. So you would have to be willing to run team with them even after training if that is the case.

Dispatch assigns me impossible load!

double-quotes-start.png

In my opinion you did what you needed to do. You informed all parties this load could not be legally done. I am assuming you are forced dispatch. I would just run it the best I could safely and legally and the rest is on them. You did your part.

OMG! Where have you been hiding, IceCold???

Haha I have been super busy and have a lot going on in my world. Found out a couple months ago my dad had lung and brain cancer both and his time is very limited. I spent some time just working and focusing on spending as much time as I can with family. It is good to be back now I just have to get all caught up.

CB radios

I agree with every one else here a CB radio is a must have. They come in handy in so many situations. bad weather, traffic (finding out what lane you need to be in during backups/accidents), checking into some shippers and receivers, sometimes just good conversation to keep you awake late at night.

Just curious, how long is the Western Express training and how far along are you now?

Griffin CDL Diary- Wilson Logistics

Congratulations on passing the permit test. Now that you have that out of the way you can focus on the pre-trip and other things. Just be like a sponge and absorb everything. Ask plenty of questions and take this time to learn everything possible.
