Should I complete the high road online course before I even make contact with a recruiter?
You can do both at the same time. Your recruiter will be happy to hear you're already studying for your CDL test.
Ok thanks I appreciate it, been really hitting it hard tonight.. Pretty excited.

Help me wrap my head around the decision to become a truck driver
I know people that have 4 year degrees in the it field and make less than 15 a hour. Just because you have a degree doesn't guarantee you a 100k a year job. I talked to a steak and shake waitress she has a bachelor degree serving burgers, it doesn't always pan out.
I am tired of my physically demanding job, I am ready to cruise the earth.

I am sure it's pretty lonely on the roads.Trucking, and sheepherding, are great careers for people who like to be alone most of the time.
LOL i gotta agree with you there.. I just feel like I can't be locked in a factory or a place of business all my life, I always get a flight mentality because i just want to go!

Two cross chains were short by one. I'll have to check with the shop. Please, let us know how that conversation goes. I'n sure there are going to be some stories flying around among those mechanics there about that former math teaching dude.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it more than you know. I am really hoping this will work out, I love to travel and drive but paying to travel and drive on my own can get expensive lol. I am sure it's pretty lonely on the roads, i did some some electrical construction in some very remote places.. Sometimes it would be a 3 hour drive to cash your first pay check.

Sitting in Tar Heel working on my thumb-twiddling skills
It could be worse, you could be at a rendering plant, I was working at one before they started production doing electrical work, they started the machines up for a test run, that was my last day there.
