Sage in Billings Montana

Well got first day done. Very nice people here. Stated at 930 Am.We had introduction and then went over schedule and program out line. We went for drug test and physical.passed with flying colors. Then went back and done more paper work.School starts normally at 8 and goes till 5; with breaks and lunch. I will get more into school on my post tomorrow. I gotta tell ya how bad things went yesterday lol. When I left Miles City. I stopped and my radiator was leaking so in checking it out my phone fell and shattered ugh. When I got to hotel I had to take laptop down to office to see why u couldn't get connected. Well I was running up the stairs and it slipped out of my hands and it broke as well. But hey nothing was or is gonna get me down. Not sure if I am doing this right with my phone so I hope so.Well hope ya all had a blessed day. See ya tomorrow.

Why doesn't my CB work?

Sounds like the same truck my son had lol at least same problem. He figured out it was the coaxil however before he could fix it ,he changed companies. I think your best bet would get new coaxil along with antennas, very easy on a freightliner to hide the coaxil along with mounting the antennas on your mirrors.

Finished school one and a half years ago

I was kinda in the same boat as well, however like a dummy I let my CDL go in 2013. About every company I talked to they required experience in the past 36 monthswhich I missed that by 2 or 3 months. So I am going to Sage Truck Driving School in Billings MT. They do have a refresher course however I opted to do the 160 hours. Some companies do recognize your military time as experience. I know it doesnt sound right that beings ya allready have a CDl that you should have to go through training again however like some one else said, alot has changed as far as regulations go. I would think that if your all good and you go through orientation and go with a trainer you might be looking at 2 weeks. What ever you decide to do I wish you luck and hope all goes well.

Prepping for the Road

Another good place to shop if money is tight ,and that is at a Dollar Store. Lol items are either a dollar or less. They have some pretty good disposable razor's as well as personal hygiene stuff. As far as food goes you cant beat some of there items. I also get all of my office supplies from there as well.

Going Home, But Not Necessarily Because I Want To

Sending prayers from Montana your way Old School. Not to many companies would let a driver keep their truck like that however it says alot about you and what you mean to that company. LOL I agree with Brett about lifting the eye brow. In the mean time take care of yourself, think positive (as you allways seem to do) Oh by the way thanks for all the knowledge and inspiration you share and give on this site.

Double clutching is hard :(

No worries you will get this. I would say just about everybody that is new coming into the industry had the same struggle that you are having with double clutching,( Notice I said HAD). You will learn the shifting pattern and D.C. in due time. Remember to breath and stay calm,ya got this...

Class D to Class A

That question has a few variables to it. You have to be 18 in order to obtain a CDL,and at that only be able to run intrastate. So with that said I would say that not many went directly from a class D to a class A.

Finally over come the hurdles

No. I am going through voc-rehab and they cover the school and the hotel. Now I dont know what kind of deal they get on the rooms but I do know there are 2 of them about a block from the school and they range from $55-$89.

Finally over come the hurdles

Well after over coming the hurdles,I have a date with Sage Truck Driving School. I check in at the Hotel and Convention Center In Billings MT on May 8th and start school on the 9th. Even though I have had a CDL in the past and its been 3 years since I have been in a truck I am required to full fill the 150 hours. There is no more then 5-6 students in a class at a time and its all 1-1 when training outside of class room. I wont be able to go back to my favorite company (May Trucking) because they dont hire out of MT. I am set up with Jim Palmer, Doug Andrus Dist, or Montana Agrilculture when I have completed schooling. So now I will just keep studying the CDL Program here at TT and count the days down.
